Front Office Christine is pleasant and attentive, was able to get me an appointment quickly even as a first time patient. Veteran Dental hygienist Michelle, was very professional, careful and pleasant. She was able to answer my questions . Dr. Christianson is a good listener, and I feel he is engaged in my concerns of tooth care and comfort and regarding prior crowns I’ve had suggested a reasonable and affordable course of treatment. Amazing service! The staff are wonderful, kind, and always willing to answer my questions. When I was concerned my Invisalign wasn’t flush with my teeth I got squeezed in the same day to make sure my treatment went perfectly! Dr. Christensen himself is personable and an amazing dentist. I had 2 or 3 cavities filled painlessly and so quickly that we were done in the time that I thought he only did 1! The office overall is very welcoming in staff and environment. 10/10 would recommend

I came across Dr. Christensen online when I typed in Dr. Steven Kraus’s name, who was the incredible dentist my daughter and I went to over 1/2 a century ago. When I called the number it was explained to me Dr. Krause had retired but Dr. Christensen had taken over his practice. I made an appt. which I went to yesterday 3/18/25 and have no need to keep searching. I was treated with a personal touch, given excellent care with no pressure. Just exactly what I was seeking. They are great! Came in for a basic cleaning 10 years ago and have continued to do business here ever since. Cleanings, deep cleanings, wisdom teeth removal, fills and now hopefully some Invisalign all done throughout the years here. They’re so great I’ve referred and brought 3 ex boyfriends, my sister and her boyfriend, and now my current boyfriend. All my ex’s still come to this dentist too! That’s how great they are. I drive 45 minutes to see them every time I make an appointment and it’s completely worth my time. Thanks to the entire team!

By far the best dental experience I continue to receive. I suffer from severe acid reflux and had only been going to the dentist as of 5 years ago. It’s been a lot of work but Ive only been treated with genuine care by Dr. Christensen and his team. Him and his team have gone above and beyond to schedule me in last minute or as soon as possible to help stop issues before they got any worse.

The reception area is clean, neat, and relaxing. The receptionist was warm, courteous, and quickly informed Dr. Christianson’s Assistant I was there. The staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable while being efficient and taking care of matters. Dr. Christianson was easy to talk to and ask questions. He never made me feel rushed. He answered my questions thoroughly and addressed issues I did not know enough to ask. I felt very at ease with the entire experience.

Dentist and staff very welcoming, understanding of fears and needs for patients who had very difficult childhood experiences with dentists. They offer sedation options or nitrous oxide to help with anxiety issues.

I Just left the San Diego Smiles dental office in El Cajon, Califormia with absolutely no pain and a large smile on my face! Dr. Kurt Christensen just finished installing a new very high quality porcelain crown in my mouth. My thoughts concerning San Diego's smiles and Dr. Kirk Christiansen. My last visit a consult over abscess of tooth number 19. Conclusion I need a root canal. The doctors integrity kept him from doing a procedure. That he didn't feel as of yet had the expertise to successfully treat me. {This is my opinion.!) If you're looking for an excellent dentist whose dedicated to his patients, look no further!!! Dr. Christensen answered my emergency call and worked me in right away and got me out of pain. I was originally being treated at the super dentist and unfortunately they were not able to complete my root canal and there staff failed to tell me I needed a specialist which they didn't have and needed to be referred out. Time went by and I started to feel pain and I wasn't sure why because I thought they did the work and come to find out they only did a crown and upon getting permanent crown is when I found out they couldn't even do that because I now had infection. After leaving the super dentist the specialist they referred me to didn't pick up and I was in a world of pain and that's when I started looking for available dentist and found Dr. Christensen and dialed his emergency number. and Dr. Christensen answered his phone immediately and ensured I at least had antibiotics and something for pain and said he would work me in on Monday. By Monday I received a speedy call from San Diego Smiles with an immediate appointment and was finally out of my pain and misery thanks to Dr. Christensen and staff!! All staff were very inviting, professional, supportive, and assisted me with great service!! Moving forward I will definitely be getting my dental work done with Dr. Christensen at San Diego Smiles! Look no further if you want quality service and you will definitely have a smile!!!?

If you truly care about your oral health, you find the right place. The BEST dentist in San Diego. Nothing but good things to say! The receptionist Carly is so sweet. It is very pleasant and professional process of scheduling & an ease to reschedule if needed. My dentist Dr. Kurt Christensen and his assistant Michelle always have fun conversation. They really care about your teeth, your budget and your satisfaction - unlike many of the dentists I have previously visited. When I first saw them a few years ago, I had some of the weakest teeth, borderline gingivitis. They treated me with respect and helped me on the road to better oral health Now! Now my teeth are stronger, healthier, and am on the road to getting my teeth whitened - something I never thought was possible with my previous condition. Fun environment & professional, honest and caring staff. Couldn't have been more satisfied with my services here (: I will continue to see them regularly.

Friendly staff, quick in & out cleaning service, all staff uses all required PPE equipment and social distancing is implemented during the Covid pandemic, which makes one feel safe and protected. Very clean premises inside and out.

I haven't been in yet, but the woman I spoke with over the phone was so very pleasant and understanding. I would definitely recommend this office. I get very good vibes from them, they are very caring and accommodating. :)

Dr. Kurt and staff are Awesome. This office is clean and up to date, the equipment is state of the art. I made a visit to the SD Smiles Center because I had a loose crown. Darren did a full set of XRays before Dr. Kurt had a chance to even say hi. The Dr. had a look and found no signs of decay under that loose crown and he asked me if I'd like him to pop it off and have a look. He said he could build me a new crown and have me back to work in 2 hours. That was no joke, after he did a little clean up work on my remaining tooth, he digitized the missing part of my original tooth and within minutes I heard the CNC machine start working on my new crown. Not kidding you, that CNC dropped out a new crown in about 15 minutes, the Dr. did a few tweaks on it and it was cemented in. I was eating my lunch 45 minutes later. Had to be careful, my tongue was still a bit numb from the Dr.'s novocaine, but that's fine with me cause I didn't feel a thing. On my second visit I returned for a cleaning. Angie did the MOST thorough cleaning and scaling on my teeth that I have ever experienced my life. Highly recommend the SD Smiles Center.

This is the best dental office I have EVER been to. I actually look forward to going to the dentist because it's so much fun (says no one ever...until they go to Dr. Christensen's office). Every single staff member is personable and professional. I did Invisalign treatment here and the entire experience was amazing. They even took care of me after returning from a year in AK and bent over backwards to accommodate all my needs. I can't say enough great things about this practice!

The try to make you as comfortable as possible and make you laugh. Best fit for those with anxiety about the dentist or their teeth. My husband and I went here today and we had an amazing experience which started yesterday on the phone with Carly. We called in to get a teeth cleaning set up I let her know it would be our first visit. She gathered our insurance information and set up us for an appointment next day! She was very quick and friendly she said she would get our insurance verified and would call if there were any issues with it. No call so perfect. Now day of my husband and I walk into the clinic and are greated immediately with a friendly smile and saying Jessica and Ruben as she pointed to us. We joined. She was taking a phone call when we walked in but multitasked and handed us clip boards to fill out patient information. When we turned around there was a wonderful clean and comfortable waiting area we sat down and begin filling out our questioner. Once she was off the phone she introduced herself stating that she was Carly the lady I spoke with yesterday and she answered our questions we had also. Now the exam and cleaning. I didn't get the names of the techs who did our cleaning but they very very professional and gentle (as it gets with dental) They made us feel very warm and welcome literally though my tech gave me a blanket because I was cold :). They also work well together and all seem to get along and respect each other which is amazing! Also the Dentist came in to inspect and ask a few questions he was very friendly and even made conversation about events in his personal day and I 100% appreciate that he wants to focus on the most important things for my treatment plan and not tell me I NEED all the work done but to keep it in mind for the future that we might need to have it corrected. When leaving Carly gave us print outs of the expenses and showed us a breakdown of what we are going to have to pay abd what our insurance covers and set up our next appointments to happen withing the next 1-2 weeks. And of course we got our tooth brushes toothpaste and floss :) :) Overall this was certainly a 5 star experience I'd give 6 if possible. I'm excited for our next visit. Edit: It has now been 2 months from our first visit and my husband went in to get his work done which initialy was just the cleaning then they said he needed to get a filling done which we agreed to. He did not have any tooth sensitivity before this visit and had no problems eating. During the procedure they decided it was necessary go deeper into his tooth and change the procedure from a filling to crow which he did not agree to. He has had problems with his tooth since then and has been back 2 times to correct the problem and it has not been corrected. Instead he has been suggested to use sensodyne for tooth sensitivity which makes no sense that we should have to use sensodyne after getting work done. He didn't have any sensitivity problems before visiting and today he called back and they are saying he may need a route canal. This has turned into a huge problem. We only went in to get a cleaning they suggested the filling and did a crown had him come back twice to readjust and now are saying he might need a root canal. I am very dissatisfied with our experience here. Our holidays were ruined because we decided to go here right after Halloween and now my husband is stuck with a a sensitive tooth that he didn't go in with and a possible route canal that should have never been needed. I really wanted this issue to be properly fixed because the staff are kind people but I feel there was fault here and it is not being owned up to. Edit The team at San Diego Smiles went above and beyond to resolve my husbands tooth pain and sensitivity that was caused after an operation. after a few months and no extra cost to us his tooth pain is gone and sensitivity has resolved to a 2. Thankfully my husband did not need the root canal he received a crown and was even offered a gold crown free of charge. We are very satisfied with the professionalism Dr. Christensen and his team posses and their honest care for others doing what is best for their patients.

Beware. Most people never check on their insurance benefits. You should, or you could become a victim of an unethical dentist. Receiving my insurance summary of charges, I discovered that Dr Christenson billed my insurance $625 for 6 cavities But there were NO cavities. Dr. Christenson’s half hour of work was solely for aesthetics, which he knew was not a covered charge. I guess he thought he could get away it because he is not required to send in authorization X-Rays for cavities. Dr. Christionson is not to be trusted.

The ladies in the front are so beautiful and friendly. Everyone in the office is extremely attentive and welcoming. Darren is so personable and always asks how my son is doing and how my family is. He is a sweet heart and I enjoy our chats before the Dr can make his way to my room. The hygienist and other assistants are phenomenal. They are accommodating and make sure you are comfortable, physically and emotionally! There is always someone laughing when I’m in their office whether it’s a client or someone from the staff but it brings a great vibe and a welcoming environment. Dr Christensen has gone above and beyond to improve the overall health of my teeth. I went in after cracking a tooth that I had no idea was decaying. I had a severe cavity and was panicked as it was one of my front teeth and I felt hideous. He was able to get me in and out the same day by printing the crown/mold in office. He came in to see me on the admin day (which is fridays) and it blew my mind that he came in on a day off and took the time out of his day. I’ve been going to him ever since. They are all genuine and caring people. It’s rare to find that, especially in high quantities at one place! Dr Christensen is funny while remaining professional and getting the job done. Going to the dentist should not be as fun as it is when I go into San Diego Smiles but they make it that way!

From the moment I waked in, I felt welcomed. The receptionist was friendly and ever so helpful. The staff were attentive and the guy (sorry I forgot his name) was funny. The hygienist was knowledgable, gentle and explained each step of what she was doing. I was even asked if I wanted to watch TV. The Dentist was friendly and I felt he knew his expertise well when he went over my needs. To top it off, after the receptionist gave me my return appt. and estimate of fees, I left. As I was traveling home, I got a call from her saying the co-payment I would pay was not as much as she told me at the office. The insurance would be covering more than expected. She took the time to call me when she could have waited till next visit, etc.That is above and beyond in my opinion. I very much appreciated everyone. Thank you.

I have been going to Dr Christensen’s office since they were located on Madison here in El Cajon and will never go to another dentist again. He is a very humble and down to earth man with your dental health and well being in his best interest. He is understanding and his office is willing to work with you and schedule payment plans if you can’t afford it up front. Carly, the receptionist is a doll and is always doing her best to get me scheduled within my availability and even calling with cancelled appointments to squeeze me in during times of urgency. The staff overall are friendly and always have smiles on their faces. I enjoy coming to their office and catching up with everyone. I feel like a part of a family and that is what dental care should be about. I had a broken tooth and I went on line to request an emergency appointment. Immediately I was scheduled, Dr. Christiansen, gave me some options, explained to me what is the best way to recover the tooth and he did a wonderful build up on the tooth, I am very happy, as painless as it was, I was greeted by friendly, courteous staff and the office building and their dental equipment are state of the art. I was awake and alert the whole time, I felt secured, content and now little pain in my "face" for SMILING too much.

My dentist of many years decided it was time to retire and left me wondering how I would replace my trusted dentist.I asked my wife what she thought of her dentist (Kurt Christensen DDS), she let me know that her experiences at his office had been great from top to bottom.I called the office and from the beginning my Five Star experience began to develop,they were polite and set me up an appointment that worked with my schedule.The day of my appointment I arrived and within minutes had X-Rays and was given an evaluation and explanation of the needed dental work.The procedure was easy and excellent and left me and my teeth very happy.The best part was Dr Christensen was able to make a crown on the spot for me that fit better than my old one, in the past I would sometimes have to wait weeks sometimes months to get my crown back from a third party lab.Not anymore!

Every time I have had to leave this dentist for insurance reasons I have regretted it. I trust them implicitly. They offer great service with high integrity and never prescribe an unnecessary procedure . I have a healthy mouth because of all their conscientious care. On top of that, my awesome hygienist gives me tips to improve the way I do home care.

I have been coming to this dental office for years! They are the nicest... Just the most delightful group of people! Dr. Christensen has been taking good care of my smile for a while now, and before then, it was Dr. Tyler. They really go above and beyond here. Geri at the front desk is absolutely wonderful - always so friendly and personable. ... and Darin always comes over and says hello and asks about my family. It really makes a difference and just makes you feel good. Just the other day, Krys cleaned my teeth and made me feel completely at ease. Such a great team. I will always refer friends and family to this office. Lucky for me, it's near my home, but even if it wasn't I would still continue to make the drive. Thanks for the great care!

San Diego Smiles with Dr. Kurt Christensen is an amazing dentistry. My first time there I was so afraid to go to a dentist because I have had bad experiences. I hadn't gone to the dentist in years. The dental hygienists and staff made me feel at ease, they were nonjudgmental after finding out that I had to get 3 filings, and had to have gum surgery because plaque was hardened between my teeth. I came in for 2 treatments. The first one was amazing they numbed me so I didn't have to feel anything. The second treatment as well I didn't feel anything. One of the hygienists taught me how to floss better, was goofy and made my experience enjoyable. Dr. Christensen was very friendly, and gentle when performing surgery. He told me that I may be sore for a couple days after the deep cleaning. I had no pain the next day. Also, I have chronic gum disease bleeding where they constantly bleed. It has been 1 month, and I have had no bleeding. The treatments were costly due to what I needed yet the office manager told me about Care Credit where I am able to make monthly payments to take care of my teeth. San Diego Smiles, Dr. Christensen, and staff are amazing and I highly recommend them.

Life Changing Experience here!! I have had some really bad phobias about dentists.. I went here after looking at San Diego magazines top 10 Dentists in San Diego. I was able to get up the nerve to try again and put my trust in San Diego Smiles and I was amazed and happy that I don't mind going to the dentist at all anymore. I have found a great dentist with an equally amazing staff and and my teeth are straight again too !orthodontist treatments. I can only say that if you have any doubts or want to try a new dentist I would say you must come here! Best Care in all aspects of their dentistry. Never had a bad experience.

I've been recommending this dentist for years and this morning's visit was an example of the reason why. I had a tooth filled. It was done quickly and painlessly. The doctor and the staff are always so friendly and very attentive to my well-being. I always feel like I've received excellent care.

Today was my 6 month cleaning. I was extremely apprehensive about it to be honest. But once I was taken to the back by Krystelyn I was immediately at ease. She is wonderful! She had some great music going and made me feel like I could relax in her care, and I did. She is very calm and caring and takes her time based on her patients needs. I was her first patient 6 months ago when she joined the office. I would HIGHLY recommend her! All of the staff are pleasant and very comforting, and Krystelyn goes the extra mile! Dr. Christensen checked my teeth and was able to assure me of my future needs. I can't wait for my 3 month cleaning! Because of Krystelyn's comforting nature, it makes it easy to want to return. The office is well managed and you'll receive great care! I recommend San Diego Smiles to everyone I know! Have a GREAT day!

I was home from college for Spring Break and my tooth was bothering me. Dr. Christensen got me in right away and fixed my tooth painlessly. My tooth now feels great and I can eat ice cream again. Thanks Dr. C.

Probably not what you'd expect to read here, but I had a great time getting some work done. Really. Dr. Christianson and staff are great. They go out of their way to make getting dental work done a pleasant experience. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Sue did a great job cleaning my teeth followed by a awesome exam by Dr. Christensen. Been coming to this office over 20 years and I highly recommend it.

I came to this office several years ago in search of a second opinion. After I spent over $1000.00 on a root canal, (I also had to pay for nitrous oxide) I was told I still needed $1000.00 of work done in my mouth. When I came into the office, I immediately noticed a difference in their practices involving patient care and patient comfort. After my check up, I was told I had two small cavities. I had them both filled that day and was offered nitrous oxide (which I was not charged to use) for comfort! I ended up paying about $30 dollars, $970.00 less than I was told by the other office! (for composite resin vs silver amalgam at the other office) Needless to say, I have never returned to the other office!!! My 7 year old daughter has been going to this office since she was two. She loves going to the dentist, I have no doubts that is because of the welcoming atmosphere, experience, and kindness from all who work in the office! After my husband retired from the navy, he began treatments here. He cannot believe the professionalism and efficiency from everyone in the office. When we enter the office, everyone remembers your name and story. Everyone cares about you and they all go out of their way to show how important you are to them. I would definitely recommend San Diego Smiles to anyone in search of a dental office filled with individuals who not only care if you receive proper treatment, they also care about you as an individual!!!!

Honestly going to the dentist for most people seems like a chore, and sure it's usually not pleasant. However, my opinion on that changed when I began going to San Diego Smiles for my dental care. I don't live or work near El Cajon, so I would have never chosen this office if it wasn't for all the outstanding opinions of my peers regarding San Diego Smiles. I gave them a try, and I don't ever plan on leaving. The staff is amazing, I mean every single person in the office has a great attitude and they never make me feel rushed or like a number. We have great conversations and they take care of me. Best of all, they make sure I'm comfortable. My San Diego Smile experience is painless in every aspect, and for dental care, that is saying a lot. Not only is it painless, it's actually a pleasure. GIVE THEM A TRY! You won't be sorry that you did. 5 Stars every time I see them!

I have been to many dentists over the years. I must say, since my co-workers & I discovered this office, I hesitate to ever go any where else. The dental work is exemplary by both dentists. When you get your teeth cleaned, you really get them cleaned! None of this 15 minute sonic wand business, but a good deep cleaning that lasts. The staff is very friendly and caring. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. If you're cold, they give you a blanket, if you want TV, you can watch while you get work done, if you need gas, you get that. Plus they make their crowns right in the office & you don't need to come back. And....last but not least, they have a computerized detail of your mouth right at your chair. & No up selling either!
