The people are really nice and Dr Okons is great! My issue is I have called twice about a procedure that I need and was told by two different people that I would hear back and have been waiting for a response for two months and the office has not called me back. I don’t believe they are actually getting the estimate even though the procedure is needed “sooner than later”. I am getting ready to check elsewhere. I hate to but I don’t like to have to keep calling for something that may or may not have been done. 09/16/2024 - I followed up with the email provided and my email was blocked. So much for the followup.

I have been a patient at this dental clinic for the past five years, and up until the fall of 2023, I have been happy with the dental services that I have received. It is unfortunate that I have to leave this negative review. I understand that there have been changes in ownership and management over the years. During my last visit in September of '23, I scheduled an appointment for March '24. Since then, my appointment has been rescheduled FIVE times, with an excuse each time. After the fifth rescheduling, THREE months after the original appointment in March, I called the office to speak to the scheduler or the office manager. The receptionist/scheduler was rude and unapologetic and obviously unaware that she had spoken with me and also had left multiple messages in the past for me regarding the multiple reschedules. She offered to take my information and have the office manager to call me back regarding my concern. Instead, it was the dentist, Dr. Okons, who returned my call. After listening to my explanation of what happened, he was very surprised and was not aware of the situation. He offered to make things right, but by that point, I was already frustrated with the inconsiderate service and had decided to seek dental care elsewhere. I also spoke with whom I believe to be the office manager, offering to make things right. She, too, apologized for what had happened. It is an unfortunate situation, but I do hope that the leadership, management, and staff work together to not allow situations like mine to continue.

Went there with my united Healthcare insurance had my exam they came up with me a plan for treatment. When they gave me cost I simply said I have medicad I didn't have my card on me so she said call back give them the number so I do that lady tells me they not accepting new patient medicad. So I'll guess I'll take my teeth somewhere else sorry I can't afford 800 dollars for a deep cleaning no 700 don't wanna put false info out there so I guess I need some where that takes medicad but I'm quite disappointed usually don't think negative and never made a review but I'm really frustrated it's been a long time since I've had proper dental care I guess the dentist are like well I would say Healthcare as a whole but I go to Duke for my cancer and they have been great. So just you radiant smiles

Dentist rushed through filling cavities, still have high spots. Whoever handles estimating insurance coverage and the amount a patient will have to pay doesn't do their job. After I paid my out of pocket cost they call trying to get double whatever I've already paid.

Incredible! Staff are friendly and greatly care for their patients. When you go here, you aren't just a number. Their team works together very well, and it's evident that everyone on staff is happy. Dentist's take time to listen to your needs. I had a ton of special requests, and had to get a lot of dental work done. Each staff member, including the Dentist, Receptionist, Specialist, Hygienist, took great care to listen to me and make me feel at ease. I wasn't the easiest patient, but they never gave me any grief, which I am extremely thankful for. I appreciate them very much and recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Great place to get dental work. Dr. Okons and the rest of the staff are very friendly. I had a recent extraction that got complicated when an infection was found. Dr. Okons immediately prepared perscriptions and a referral for an oral surgeon to fix it. They were very kind throughout the experience and tried accomodating me every way they could during the appointment. While they couldn't finish this particular extraction I'll be going back for whatever work I need. Their patient care is the best and worth it.

Staff is great and they don’t make you feel bad if you miss a cleaning. They help without the guilt I’ve received at other places. One of the staff at the desk last time seemed a bit irritated but maybe that’s out of character for her. The other lady at the desk jumped right in to help. I even had a scheduling issue this time and they quickly helped me and took me anyway despite the mixup. They deserve all the praise I can give.

I went in saw the doctor and the hygienist and she fixed my teeth right then and there. She was on a tight time schedule but she knew how important it was for me to have my teeth fixed because they were the front and I work in the public. She did an amazing job. D. Hendrick was the dentist I saw as an emergency. I called on Friday when the office opened. I had an appointment for 9 that day. The staff did everything they could short of doing the root canal which I need and they don't perform. I will be going back to the office for my non emergency stuff.

Not worth it find someone else. There is a very nice woman who works there that did get me a blanket when I was freezing (they keep it really cold) I had some cavities fixed a few years ago and whoever worked at the office at the time must of messed them up. It was impossible to floss my teeth. After this other dentist I saw fixed them I still can not floss my teeth. None of my teeth seem to line up straight anymore on that side. One filling I had fixed, chipped then went back and had it fixed it chipped 2 more times. They say with it being cosmetic in the front its easy to break. But I didn’t use my front teeth for anything hard to break them! It just fell out one day when I rubbed my tongue over it. The last time it was fixed annoys me the most because one tooth feels like it has a big lump of filling behind it that didnt get smoothed down and the other dont. Was told I have a few cavities. I asked if they could do them all at once the woman said that was fine. So I was not worried about different appointments or I would of made more than one! The day I went in they only fixed one area of my mouth but none of the other cavities where I have had pain. Now saying they dont take medicaid anymore so I an having to find a new dentist that does and deal with the pain until then. The last time I went in was also the worst. The woman put the topical in my mouth and the dentist didnt come in to numb me until the topical had already wore off! They both kept walking in an out of the room. I felt like I was just another number not a patient they actually cared for!

The dentist and his assistant were fantastic. The procedure was painless and quick. However, I had a VERY difficult time making an emergency appointment. The employee didn’t seem to understand toothache and pain. She proceeded to tell me that they had NO open emergency appointments. She went on to tell me that they were short of help due to snowy conditions and how they would only be working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and they are closed on Fridays. She was eluding to me waiting a week to even call back for an appointment. She said IF they had a cancellation that she would call me. I was looking up other dentists when I decided to call her back and let her know that I was skeptical of the information she was giving me. Miraculously, she had a cancellation and I was able to go in. She is not at all friendly and came in the the procedure room to inform me that I would owe $160.00. I said fine. When I checked out it was an $80.00 charge. The dentist need to be aware of her reluctance to help their clients. They need to be aware that she does everything to keep the clients away including quoting the wrong fees.

This place is the best!! Dentists have always scared me but these people put you at ease and just are the best. Check in was a breeze. Everyone spoke to you was friendly and kind. They try everything to help you and make you feel comfortable. The tech that was taking my x-rays constantly explained everything she was doing and kept making sure I was ok through the whole process. They gave me a referral for my wisdom teeth and guided me through that and told me I could contact them if I had any trouble with it. They are very efficient and quick. Michael who works the front desk is the best!!! He has a heart and really works hard at making everyone comfortable. Please do not hesitate to come here for any dentistry work. If I could give a 0 star rating I would and here is my reason why so sit back and prepare to read a book. Back in April I had a root canal done and I didn’t get my cap for my tooth until september. It took them 5 months to get a cap on my tooth because they kept messing it up and I was the one that had to pay out of pocket for the cap. My second reasoning is this, I was scheduled for a cleaning back in either October or November and I was told I had 2 cavities and I was scheduled to get one filled and not the other, i don’t know why. I told them about this pain in my tooth that I was having and was told it was my enamel being weak and was prescribed toothpaste for it, tried that it didn’t work and so I ended up moving and found a dentist in my area and scheduled a appointment for the same tooth and guess what? I was told that I need a root canal!! can you imagine? another painful procedure needed to be done because salisbury dentistry don’t seem to know what they are doing. I strongly think they should pay the 1,000 it’s going to cost me to get this done. You guys need to get it together

Terrific experience. My appointment was fast, the entire staff was very nice and knowledgeable. They also have great technology. My husband had an appointment on a Friday at 11am on his only day off work. He drove 30 minutes to get there and the office was closed! Without any notification. This was after calling for 3 weeks to get an appointment, leaving many messages and they don't return calls or answer the phone. Also, the filling I got from there is uncomfortable and shifts around, but they won't fix it. They told me they would call to reschedule my cleaning, when I was already there, because the dentist was running behind. They never called. We had to find another dentist.

November 22 - l just had my next dental cleaning & it was good as I've come to expect from SFD. I was in & out in a very short time. I barely got seated when they called my name. I've rarely had to wait, another reason they are such a super dental office. As always the people were great, I was in & out very fast. It was just a cleaning, between Covid & minor illness it was overdue. I had a horrible experience with a dentist years ago & I am always in a near panic whenever I see the dentist now. The staff has been so accommodating with me to ease my terror. I can actually breathe the whole time I'm in the chair. Personally I feel like they are the best dental office ever! I would give 10 ?s if I could.

Should have known this practice was a scam when I first went for a broken tooth and general exam. They took xrays and the dentist said you will need to go to an oral surgeon and have it removed, which I did. Then went back for my cleaning. They explained the type of cleaning they would be doing and then told me I would need to return in 2 weeks for a polishing. When I returned for the polishing I was informed that I owed money for the cleaning. I said under my insurance that was covered. They then explained that they have 3 types of cleaning and the one they gave me was only covered by my insurance at 50%.This was not explained prior or I would not have had it done. Searching for a new dentist, one that doesn't scam it's patients.

For several months, my wife and I have been using the services of Salisbury Family Dentistry and paying as services were rendered. A few days ago, I was given quite a surprise...... I was told that my insurance has not been paying the amount they have committed, and they slapped us with a $767.60 bill! Do you imagine purchasing a new vehicle from a Ford dealer for 25,000 dollars, and a few months after you signed the contract, receiving a bill for $5000 dollars from the dealer because the automaker failed to pay them for X,Y and Z, incentives that they have promised? The story does not end there ..... I went back to them on Monday, May 3rd to fix a chipped on a tooth that they repaired recently. Without asking or discussing cost with me, and without my consent they slammed me (AGAIN) with a bill for $165 dollars. Their actions are illegal, pathetic, unprofessional, and against all principles of quality and fairness. Next time you go for care, ask them whether or not you will see their contract dentist again or maybe, somebody else? That is why it will be wise and recommended that you and your love ones stay away from Salisbury Family Dentistry!

The measures to prevent Covid-19 are above expectations, I give them a 10 out of 10, they have very good administrative and Personal Protective Equipment controls. Minimum waiting time, you were attended on time for the appointment time. SMS appointment reminders were excellent. If you have money and like sitting in a newly remodeled and finished dentistry with likely less experienced and transparent care, this would be the place for you. I went in for establishing care and hopefully teeth cleaning. I have not had regular teeth cleaning due to financial reasons and priority in education and they insisted me to have “deep cleaning” which would require local anesthesia and it would cost~$250 on half of my mouth. That means ~$500 for the whole mouth WITH Delta dental covering 50%. When asked if there were other options, no other options were provided. The dentists only saw me for less than 5mins and just told me I needed cleaning before patching up a few cavities. Unfortunately, being a grad student working in healthcare and living on loans, I do not feel comfortable using all of you tax payer’s hard earned money so carelessly, so I decided to seek a second opinion. I went exactly 3.2 miles westbound on statesville blvd and found another dentistry owned by a single provider. No fancy furniture, no newly finished floor, but excellent care. Not only the dentist immediately spotted my abnormal dental wear and tear due to grinding/clenching teeth during sleep that I didn’t know at all before and showed me all the worn down fillings I have due to lack of regular dental care. Most importantly, they provided me options to get my teeth cleaned without local anesthesia with the trade off of multiple visits in the future, which will end up way cheaper that the only option that Salisbury Dentistry would offer. I wish Salisbury Family Dentistry would be more through and transparent with their patients and provide multiple and less biased treatment options when they are clearly possible. Even if the staff is possibly under-proficient to provide the care or equipment is potentially insufficient to perform the similar treatments as other dentistries, just tell you patients plainly, don’t mislead them that there are no other options other than over $1000 of teeth cleaning procedure.

Well a few months later, now that I have a working vehicle, to make an appointment for my disabled son, they told me we can't cone back due to we missed an appointment. Now I am having a difficult time finding a dentist for my disabled son. I don't think that was fair. Hiw did they expect me to get there with no transportation at the time!!!! I feel that this place is not fair at all!!!!

Very friendly office. I called to make an appointment due to tooth pain. They got me an appointment 2 days later. Got there feeling nervous and everyone I seen was very calming and nice. After dentist got in there it wasn't very good. But he gave me options and the expected cost of each option with my insurance. Then told me to go home and talk it over about which one I wanted and then call to make an appointment for whichever I pick. He did not push the most expensive procedure. I think I've found a hidden gem in this office.

I was in a lot of pain due to my wisdom tooth that was infected. Salisbury Family Dentistry got me in the next day. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. C was very professional and nice. She was unable to remove the tooth since it is impacted. She made a referral and prescribed antibiotics and pain medication to get me by until I see the oral surgeon. I will be coming back to Salisbury Family Dentistry.

The front desk and the dental assistants are very nice. And it is a very clean nice place. But the dentists here do not really care about their patients. I just went today due to bad tootheache over holiday. I have a tooth with a hole in it thats exposing my nerve. So its very very painful. He referred me to a oral surgeon who cannot see me until January 5th. He didnt offer to numb me even if it only lasted an hour that would still help a little. So here it is 11 at night and I'm crying and screaming and cannot sleep. With 3 children. Dentists are supposed to help you. This one however did not. And does not seem a bit concerned for my well being at all.

Do not waste your time here. I have been calling this place for over a month to get an appointment for my son who needs to see a dentist asap for a cavity (yes he is an existing paitent) and they will never answer the phone not do they ever call back after leaving messages different days. They aren't open for walk-ins and will oy let you inside if you have an appointment which is impossible to make since no one works at the desk to answer the phone.

I’ve been visiting this office for years, and have spent several thousand dollars. My husband and children now come to this office. Dr. Cherniavasky is an incredible dentist and will inevitably do great things throughout her career, however, I just can’t deal with the office any longer in order to visit her. I’ve been patient and unwavering throughout some time, receiving faulty cavity fillings multiple times, appointment reminders on cancelled appointments, invalid insurance claims, however, this past week has me livid. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and they wait until I’m in the parking lot checked in for my 3:20 appointment, to call at 3:17 and notify they had not yet verified my new insurance policy (that began 6 months ago!) and would need to reschedule for a new week. The office is apparently incompetent in their insurance and appointment procedures, and is unwilling to rectify their mistake and verify insurance on the spot to keep their scheduled appointment. It is blatant laziness and disregard for patients. Although Dr. C, Ashley, Liz, and a handful of staff have been great, I am no longer willing to battle through the administration to remain a patient, and have been forced to find a new practice.

The last few times I’ve been I’ve had Rhonda as my hygienist and she is just great and recommended, I’ve had plenty and she’s the friendliest I’ve had but they’re all friendly. Dr. C is also the best Dr around and I just love going everytime!

The staff is always very friendly (I particularly like Holly who is just as sweet and funny as she can be). The hygienist always seem very thorough in their cleanings without ever making it uncomfortable or painful. The office is always very clean and positive. It was very bad experience , When checking in the grumpy office manager at the reception ask me to pay $400 prior to receiving treatment was told that they will submit the cost of the treatment to my insurance first to see how much they going to pay on my behave for the treatment , Was not able to pay that amount because I was not prepared . I did ask the grumpy office manager I can pay some now , make the rest as payments and to see how much my insurance will pay she refused . BTW they advertise on line for ( INSURANCES & PAYMENT OPTIONS ) . Other experience with that place they submit payment to my insurance for services I don't know about it and my insurance company denied the payment . Please don't waist your time . Here's another review from someone else : K F. 7 months ago Never Again It was the most unprofessional experience ever! When checking in, reviewed with office manager that no money was due @ service. Prior to receiving treatment was told that I would need to pay 160.00 and 80.00 was due @ treatment! Was not able to pay that amount because I was not prepared. Was told that I was refusing treatment and because of that; was told that they were terminating my service and was asked to leave and they called the Police on me - because I refused to leave without money owed to me. I never heard something like that . The office manager very rude and has no respect for the patients .

First of all my husband got some work done not too long ago and on his initial visit the young male dentist totally missed the decaying tooth my husband was going for in the first place told him his teeth were great until he literally pointed it out to him. I called and specifically requested that the dentist that would repair his tooth be a different dentist. His next visit was of course with the same dentist but my husband is not the type to say anything so he let him repair it and not but an hour later the filling came out. Well me having a good experience with them years before I decide to give them the benefit of the doubt and attempt to get my dental work done there. For three weeks I tried calling and left two messages to not be called back finally on my last attempt I was answered to a “very welcoming greeting” hint the sarcasm. When I told her first about how hard it was to get someone to answer the phone she quickly dismissed it by asking me my name and what I needed I told her to be seen and she snapped back with, “you mean for a new patient appointment because you were last seen two years ago”. I said ,”yeah I guess so” then she went on to say, “ well I can see here that you missed quite a few appointments in the past and I want to let you know that in the future...” I stopped her right there because I had never missed an appointment I have canceled but never missed I have 3 children and can not guarantee that I will make it however I always respectably call in advance or ASAP when I will not be able to attend. Again she dismissed my discontent, “ok well I’m just letting you know our new policy for missed appointments.” I still continued to schedule thinking maybe it’s just me but after letting it set in and thinking about my phone call and my husband’s experience, I really did not want my appointment to go as my phone call did nor did I want to get blamed for a missed appointment when they can’t even answer the phone to schedule an appointment much less cancel one. So I call back to cancel go figure get the recording twice finally the third time someone answered when I stated my name and told her I wanted to cancel my appointment she said “ok I’ll let someone know, what was your last name again.” Wow great I’m not even sure the appointment had been truly canceled even though I even gave her the date they scheduled. Needless to say I will be looking for a new provider for both me and my husband. I don’t know if there has been tons of turn over since I last visited but I can assure you this is definitely not the good service from both the staff and dentists that we previously received there two years ago!!!

Can’t remember the dentist’s name since this Incident happened in 2013 and the Dr doesn’t appear to work at the facility anymore (according to their website-Thank Heaven’s!!) nor do I receive services here anymore. Beware of sketchy Dentist. The Dr I had took forever to fill my tooth. The assistant told him she needed to dry the tooth before he filled my tooth because I had those huge black mouth openers in my mouth so I was drooling and it was uncomfortable! Once the Dr returned he hushed her with “Shhhhhh” and proceeded to fill my tooth. Also they filled several teeth that truly didn’t need fillings. Please go have a second opinion. I’m truly disappointed. I will always have my guard up and advocate for myself.

I recently reviewed at a lower rating because I had been having trouble getting the front office staff to answer the phone and schedule my next appointment. They have since reached out and had quick availability for my cleaning, so I'll chalk it up to being unorganized for a few weeks. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Cherniavsky today and she is amazing. When I began visiting this office, I had an insane amount of work that needed to be done. Karla laid out my treatment plan into separate visits and we chipped away all year last year. With the help of the office, I've just had my first cleaning with no cavities, EVER. Liz, Amanda, and Dr. C are all amazing.

My husband loves this place and so do I! They are great there! Dr. Barton really helped my hubby through the pain of having his wisdom teeth removed. Kelsey was super sweet as can be! And they were so amazing with my kids! My middle son’s first dentist visit was a happy one! This is definitely the best dentist office around! Will always go here as long as we live in this area. Will miss them when we get to go back to the coast when our house is finished being rebuilt. We may continue to go here anyway cause I do have family that I’ll be visiting. Definitely worth a 4 hour trip to stay with such a great practice ;)

I never really liked going to the dentist because I was so scared. the 1st time I went I told the lady I was scared of dentists. She held my hand while Dr. Smith checked me an pulled a tooth. The 2nd time i went i had no one to watch my son the lady at the front desk took him for a while until the x-ray was done. They did a wonderful job an I can't actually wait to go back to fix my smile. I don't feel as scared like I was the first time. I am really glad they care about other people an their teeth because some doctors don't even care they just do it to get it over with even of they mess up. But here at Salisbury family dentistry they take there time. They care for you. Thank you for making me not scared to come to the dentist thank you for caring. You guys are the best. I recommend them 100%

My trip to this new dentist to me, Dr. Barton, was an absolute joy for me today! I was real nervous to begin with bc I didnt know the location of the office and my appointment was at 2pm. I was suppose to arive 15 mins early to fill out new paperwork. I actually got lost and drove around until about 2:30 trying to find the office, trying to call them frequently to get help with directions. Which I never got throygh bc they were on dinner break but just about as I had given up, they called me and it was so funny! They were just one drive beside where I was sitting in my car fixing to make a turn towards there office. I had just about pulled into it unknowingly! They had no problems excepting that I was at least 30 mins late! Took me in, I filled out paperwork and the girls at the desk were very helpful with me trying to get it done right and so very nice and polite, which started my new visit with them off great! Even though I was really late! Then I met the doctors attendant Kelsey, who was just so kind and sweet, just a joy to be around! We got things going, done an xray and was sit back in the room to await the doctors visit with me. I absolutely found Dr. Barton to be a joy also! He aswered every question I had and done my exam in no time hardly at all and made me very happy with the process that I was to have done for me! And then they sent me on my way to check out which Kelsey so kindly excorted me to and help me with getting signed out as well. The girls at the front desk were once again very kind and thoughtful and futher answered a couple of questions I had, which satisfied me alwsomely! My experience there was just a delight! Never have I been treated so well and welcomed with so much thoughtfulness and big smiles from everyone! It was a joy going to this office in every possible way! I actually smiled and laughed more than I had in days! This is the place for me and the only dentist or dentist office I would ever recommend to anyone! If you find yourself needing of a dentist or new dentist office this is the place to be! I left with a great big smile on my face, very content and happy with the whole visit@ Take the time to try these guys out they are a marvelous team to be around! You will enjoy your visit bc they will make it joyful to you! I just love the atmosphere there! And so happy I chose them as my family dentist for a lifetime! Thank you so much guys yall were great! My son Ryan has Down Syndrome, if you are a parent of a special needs child you know it is hard to find a dentist. Ryan and I both love Dr. Barton and Kelsey. This was my first visit. Mary was very friendly and put me at ease. I would like to have her every time I visit. Dr. C was very good and friendly. She explained everything to me before her exam. Gave me a very detailed plan of what needs to be done for me. Probably after a few more visits to see how they do, I would probably recommend them to anyone who needs a dentist.

Went in last October for a filling it still was hurting 2 days later .They told me use sensadine tooth paste .So it started hurting again last week I called and they said they would not be able to see me till I had my cleaning.Changed to fr fortner and had root canel today .will never go back to them and told my daughter to move my grand kids too.

I used to love this place. I never had a problem with getting my check ups or my fillings before until this past Thursday I had gotten a cavity filled. One cavity in the top back and it was completely fine the day after into Saturday but the more I would bite down the more pain it cause. I’m pretty sure the filling is too high causing pain and I had gone back today to try to get it checked which takes 2 seconds. The lady’s at the desk were very rude and brushed it off as it was nothing and I was sent home in pain. I am beside myself that a business would send away someone in pain with a solution that is so simple and fast to fix.

I went there several times. Came out worst. Dr. Henderson was the overseer. Was told I had several cavities,. Had fillings done one of which at the front and kept coming out! Early in the process I felt so much worse I thought it’s probably on open sore due to cavities. The pain was so bad had to have a premolar pulled by another dentist elsewhere as this one did not have space. Went back again to have refills in each time it was the worst experience, I couldn’t believe it, I was so uptight and nervous to the whole process. Needless to say I don’t ever want to go back to this place.

Absolutely loved them at first, even sent 6 patients to them but I've been complaining since February of a toothache which they saw the exposed root and they kept telling me to rub sensitive toothpaste on it. Now on November 30, I put my foot down and said I'm not leaving until they do something about it. Well, I now need a root canal and can't get me in for 7 weeks!!! I'll be in excruciating pain through the holidays, thanks a lot! Sent me home because I have no more insurance benefits until January. At least they could have given me something for the pain, now I can't even sleep at night it's so painful!! So angry now!

It's a great friendly and relaxing environment. I don't think anyone wants to go to the dentist but if you need to go this is the best place to go. I had two teeth pulled yesterday not real sore today and Lloyd Johnston done an excellent job of getting those stubborn things out. And he is down to earth and funny as well as the staff!

Hi! To whoever reads this: I was a recent patient at Dest Family Dentistry. Let me tell you they were fantastic with me. I am really, and I mean really afraid of dentists. I even told the Doctor that, he said don't worry so am I. We both had a good laugh over that one. But as I sat in the chair everyone took such good care of me. I had ten (10) of my bottom teeth pulled and one (1) top wisdom tooth pulled. I was getting a bottom set of dentures. I was on laughing gas and novacaine shots. All I could feel was a little pressure. It was so easy. I was so surprised when we were finished, I had to ask if we were finished. If you need any dental work I highly recommend that you go to the Dest Family Dentistry.
