Dentistry the way it’s meant to be. Personalized, safe and effective dental work. Removed an infected root canal tooth. Within a day I started to feel so much better. The cone machine used picked up decay in this root canal tooth when 2 other machines (I visited 2 other dentists prior to Dr. Mensah) did not pick up. I would highly recommend Dr. Mensah. Earlier this week, I had an appointment with Dr. Thomas for an amalgam filling removal. I was a bit nervous since I was so used to Dr. Mensah and the older I get the more nervous I get at the dentist, but let me tell you, I was dozing off in that chair—that’s how comfortable I felt. All my anxiety left. He is very polite and funny as well. Shout out to Mrs. Wanda too; those two paired together made a great team. I felt cared for while I was getting my teeth worked on.

I’ve been going to see Doctor Mensah for years. I have never enjoyed myself so much than in his presence and the delightful talented staff. I can laugh with them and they are so kind to me. I present a lot of physical difficulties. I’m very old and the degree they accommodate me is extraordinary and sometimes if you’re lucky, his dog Hans will be there to sit in your lap!! BTW did i mention what an EXCELLENT dentist he is? Im a scaredy-cat white knuckle woman at the dentist and he makes it so easy and does excellent work. I cant praise him more.

This isn’t a review on the actual dentist or his abilities- only the employee who takes new patient phone calls. I asked her 4 questions and she couldn’t answer any of them without speaking to the front desk. One of the questions included wanting to know what the treatment I was interested in cost. She told me they couldn’t tell me that until the doctor assessed. I then asked if there was a starting price. She said no. With all due respect, I’m not going to make an an expensive out of pocket initial appointment without knowing the potential cost of the specific treatment I want. It could be an easy ball park. Hard to get answers as a new patient and feel confident about the practice when the employee can’t answer basic questions about a treatment listed on their website.

This is a wonderful Dentist! Very knowledgeable and supportive of healthy overall oral dental health. Great bedside manner! Supporting staff are very kind and work well together as a team. I had amalgam fillings removed and feel such a difference in my health. This is where I also go for my regular dental care!

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the excellent care I received at Integrative Holistic Dentistry. Gina is super kind and helpful and I felt welcomed and taken care of when I arrived for my appointment. The office is very clean and light. Even the air in the clinic felt clean. A wonderful place, very thorough. All the staff was so pleasant. I love Integrative/Functional medicine visits because they don’t rush and take their time to take good care of you. It’s worth the price if you can afford it, but it helps to have an HSA or flexed spending account.

All of the staff, from the front desk receptionist to the dental hygienist and, of course the dentist are very friendly and professional. I never have to wait to be seen, nor do I ever feel rushed. The facility is clean and beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommend

I had been traveling all the way to Raleigh to a holistic dentist, but am so happy to have found Dr. Mensah in Chapel Hill! I used to manage an upscale dental clinic in Wayzata, MN so I know what I want to see. The office was very clean and the staff were welcoming and made me very comfortable. The equipment is up-to-date and my initial assessment comprehensive. Dr. Mensah listened well and was very good at explaining what he was seeing and recommending. I felt well-taken care of. The only recommendation I might make is to improve signage on the outside. If it were on the marque at the street, I did not see it. The blue and green of the logo caught my eye on the side of the building, but I still had difficulty identifying it quickly while driving past.

Dr Mensah is a 3.5+ hour drive for me, but completely worth all the time and miles. For years, I’ve had issues going to the dentist, from nausea after normal cleanings to relentless pain after fillings or crown work. Because he is mindful of a more holistic perspective of our whole health, Dr Mensah was able to do testing that very specifically identified WHY my body was struggling after dental treatments. Now after having a major procedure done by Dr Mensah on multiple teeth, I know that going to the dentist can actually be helpful and not make me feel worse! He’s very attentive to your individual needs and uses beneficial tools and products that typically aren’t used in conventional dentistry because they go the extra mile in preventive care. He and his team are all fantastic to work with and I highly recommend this practice as a whole.

Our son broke his front tooth on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately our regular dentist was ill and unable to see him. This office graciously called us first thing Monday morning and got our son in and taken care of. They did beautiful work and handled him with the upmost care.

I love going to a holistic, integrative dentist. I didn’t realize how the health of your teeth determines the health of the rest of your body until recent years. Dr. Mensah and his team are a friendly group of caring, detailed oriented people who love their jobs and their clients. A good outcome is as important to them as it is to me. That shows me they are proud of their work ethic as they should be. They use methods regular dentists don’t use and those methods are important to me.

We have a dentist we love. Only came for an opinion based on referral from Dr. Harriet Hansell. Great support staff, great physical exam. Lots of x-rays & a CT Scan. Conclusions seemed very appropriate, will review with Dr. Hansell before implementing.

My first visit was a pleasure. I was immediately made to feel welcome and I was seen right on time. The technician who attended to me was very friendly, professional and helpful. The doctor was great as well, obviously extremely knowledgeable and I felt he had my best interest at heart. He arrived at a plan to take care of my needs and what it would cost in no time at all and made me feel comfortable in every way.

I absolutely love this office! It’s got a very homey and comfy vibe when you walk in. Everybody from Gina at the front desk to Jennifer and Jessica, the hygienist and dental assistant, are so sweet and caring. I feel very comfortable and know I’m well taken care of. I am guilty of not having regular dental visits and I have several issues that need to be addressed. I kept putting it off out of embarrassment. However, what stood out the most, beyond a noticable high level of professional technique, was how much I was included l in the overall experience. Dr. Mensah and the friendly staff at IHD took excellent care of me when I needed a molar removed. As a general rule, I don’t trust any health care practitioners, be they doctors, dentists or psychologists because the pharmaceutical industry has gained far too much influence over the curriculum at Universities. A traditional dentist I spoke to from another practice scoffed at my concerns about the long-term health implications of having a root canal and assured me that they are safe because she had two herself. This is exactly the kind of hubris being churned out by Universities that turns me right off - most dentists do not question what they were taught in dental school and don’t understand the significant connection between our oral health and systemic illness because that isn’t part of the curriculum at Uni. When I saw a copy of “The Toxic Tooth” on the waiting room coffee table at Dr. Mensah’s office, I knew I was in the right place. My molar extraction, for which I was awake, was completely painless throughout the procedure, and I had virtually no swelling after. It cost me more than I wanted to pay, but you can’t put a price tag on good health. I consider it a worthy investment in myself.

We absolutely love this clinic. Dr. Mensah is great at what he does. He is excellent with kids - all three of my kids are patients there and he has repaired many cavities all while keeping the kids calm and comfortable. My kids love going to the dentist thanks to him and his wonderful team. They also offer sedation for kids who are a little hesitant. I am so glad I can take my kids to the local holistic dentist instead of the pediatric dentist where no one knows us and we feel like just another number in their system. Everyone in the office is so friendly and makes us feel right at home. So glad we have found our family dentist where we can continue to go to for check ups to keep our teeth clean and healthy.

I found IHC through a “biological dentist” search on my browser. I drive from Winston Salem to get the holistic type of care this office provides. My kiddos that were seen are ages 5 and 3, and my worry was that they would be to wild to be seen. While I think this new dentist that took over Dr Wilcox practice is both professional and personable I am not sure he is well trained with using Ozone. I have had ozone treatments several times in the past and when I was treated by him I had significant swelling which I had never had before and after checking with a few of my friends that have used it they too have never had this result. Additionally, ozone at the proper strength should have a strong smell and there was zero smell with these injections. Very different than the treatment I had with Dr Wilcox. Going back to the website now I do not see any certification for ozone training but he may have just neglected to list it. I cannot vouch for his traditional dentistry skills because I had nothing else done but his staff is exceptional and my gut tells me he is a good dentist otherwise.

I appreciated Dr. Willock's assessment of my issue and his clear explanation of my options. He provided 2 qualified referrals so I could decide which way I wanted to treat the problem tooth. I would not hesitate to see him again even though his office is a 2 1/2 hr drive for me.

Just want to give a heads up to those that are concerned about covid safety at the dentist's office. I went for a new patient visit today and was greeted by a very cheerful and lovely - but maskless - woman at the front desk. She informed me that I could remove my mask (I didn't). Then I sat in the waiting room and noticed a book about the case against masks so I inquired at the desk with Gwen (the office manager/receptionist) and she showed me their list of procedures and explained that the book was brought to them by a holistic doctor who thought the book so important that he brought an entire case. The procedures include things that are not known to prevent covid, such as use of essential oils in diffusers. When in the exam room, I asked about the air purifiers and discovered the one pointed out to me to look quite old and dirty. When chatting about safety with the dental assistant (who was wearing a mask and a face shield), Gwen came into my room, again maskless, and began discussing the plan for my appointment standing just a few feet away. I stated that I was not comfortable with her not wearing a mask and she said perhaps it wasn't the place for me. Clearly it wasn't and I left. If you want to go to a place where ALL of the staff are protecting themselves and you with the latest technology in air purification, I would not suggest this office. They were polite and friendly - but not following recommended safety procedures for medical offices and staff.

Sandi the hygienst did a thorough yet gentle cleaning. I had some dental work done 6+ years ago and it looked good. Little did I know that the work done would need to be redone and all bc of lack of experience and expertise of my previous dentist! To my surprise, Gwen was able to get me an appointment very quickly. I was in the chair for almost 3 hours and I couldn't have felt more comfortable with Dr. Willock and Wanda. My work is not completely done yet, but I have great confidence that I will be just as happy. Before and after pictures to come! Thank you to Dr. Willock and his wonderful team!

Dr. Willock and all of his staff deserve a 10. I have been going to them for about 3 years and I only have good to say about each one. He and his staff all work well together and hIs staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have had to have quite a bit of work done and I'm so glad I found them to do it. They are all very professional, pleasant, and have always worked well with me to determine whats best. Dr. Willock does fantastic work. He was able to save a tooth and prevent a root canal that was being recommended by another dentist. I had to have a front vaneer done and he did a beautiful job. It matches well and looks the same as my other teeth. I cannot say enough good about Dr. Willock and his staff.

GET YOUR AMALGAM FILLINGS REMOVED, I cannot stress this enough! After having all mine removed at Dr. Willock's office I've gradually been noticing health improvements. I'm am a very skeptical person but I do believe and understand our bodies are being assaulted from toxins on a daily basis. Shortly after I started removing the amalgam fillings my ringing stopped in my ears, I've experienced this most of my adult life but always attributed it to all my years in construction, therefore having hearing damage. Nope, it was the fillings, the ringing literally stopped overnight. The next thing I've realized is I no longer have heartburn, yes it was caused by my fillings, I'm still shocked about this. If you have any doubt please do some of your own research into how detrimental mercury toxicity is to your ENTIRE body and how it was causing so much disruption in my gut! I've suffered from heartburn the last 15 years and it just stopped after the last of the amalgam was removed from my mouth. I'm still currently detoxing from mercury and will be for months to come but for the first time in my life I'm seeing significant improvements in my health! This has all been extremely eye opening to me to say the least, get those amalgams out! Dr. Willock and his staff were great, friendly and accommodating from start to finish.

Please beware. Dr. Willock did 3 fillings for me. After the numbing medication wore off I was in so much pain. It lasted over a month it affected my sleep nightly. I also noticed soon after the fillings the color changed on some to a black and later developed holes. I went back regrettably and he redid them only after I had another dentist confirm that they needed to be redone. He redid two of them. Afterwards I remained in pain for another month and a half and developed larger holes in my teeth one of them had dark green matter in it. I went to another dentist and he replaced all 3 fillings and I haven’t had pain since!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Willock and his staff. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. They take every precaution to ensure safe mercury removal (if necessary). I did some major work and the estimate ended up being a lot higher than what I was charged in the end. I am so happy to have all the mercury out of my mouth and to continue to receive my dental care at a clinic that makes my overall health a priority.

I saw a Biological/Holistic dentist when I lived in Philadelphia. I loved everyone in their office and was nervous about finding a good Holistic dentist here. Fortunately, I became a patient of Dr. Willock's ! Because my dental issues are mostly periodontal, I must say that Sandy is the best hygienist I've ever worked with, and my teeth and gums are the healthiest they have ever been. When I've had to have a cavity filled, or a cracked tooth repaired, I've been impressed with Dr. Willock's kindness and the advanced technology he uses, which is state of the art. All office staff people are wonderful, as well !

That might have been the first time I left a dentist with a really big smile. I wanted to talk to a holistic dentist about getting a 15 year old root canal removed because of some problems I have been noticing with it. Dr. Willock spent so much time of my visit answering all of my questions and giving me a full story of his own root canal removal. I left with a referral to an oral surgeon and a plan. One of the things I liked the most about this office was the way I was never given a hard sell on any options. I really felt like me health was foremost, not the money I would be spending in the office. I am so happy with the choice I made to see Dr. Willock, outside of the regular insurance route.

Very unprofessional and negligent in communication. I scheduled an appt to get a consultation and was not told anything about what to bring or cost. Get there and after about an hour wait is told I can’t be seen because I don’t have x-rays that I was not told I needed before. after a physical exam (dentist looking I my mouth and chatting with me -~5 min total time) I was told to pay $190 and when the x-rays are sent to their office from my primary dentist they would send me a treatment plan.

I made the 3 hour trip from Virginia to see Dr. Willock and I will happily do so from now on! From the first phone call to make my appointment, I felt like Dr. Willock and his entire staff had my best interest in mind. They are extremely friendly, professional, knowledgeable and want to work with you toward your best health - not "let's do this because insurance will pay for it". My sister, who is also a dental hygienist, came along with me to discuss the implants that I need and they welcomed her in to the exam room, asked for her input and valued her opinion. Dr. Willock enters the room and sits down to talk to you, discuss your concerns and looks you in the eye while sharing his expertise. A stark contrast from the other dentist I've encountered who hurry in, don a mask and gloves, stick their hands in your mouth and say a few words as they pop off their gloves and scurry out the door. I'm very happy to have a found this dental practice!

Best dentist in the area hands down. I live in Willow Springs so it’s a good 46 miles (at least an hour or more drive) for me to get there from home, but I wouldn’t even consider finding another dentist closer to home. Dr. Willock and his staff are THAT good.

New hygienist was delightful, personable, and as far as I can say competent. She seemed to be both thorough and a good communicator with me and with my dentist. I also liked the way he explained things while showing me my xrays. I was nervous about new folks, but I thought they were great.

I went to Willock for the first time in February of this year for a cleaning and had an amazing experience. The staff were very friendly even though I was running a late into their lunch break and the attendant was friendly and honest about the condition my teeth and gums were in and gave great advice on how I could maintain a healthy smile. My previous experience at dental offices was intimidating and a bit scary. I always felt ashamed that I wasn't taking care of my teeth and gums the way I could be. The team at Willock was honest but compassionate and I appreciate that about their care. I feel more encouraged to take care of my teeth than ever, and I will definitely be going back for my regular cleanings and fillings. The pricing seemed on par with other cleanings and xrays I've had in the past. As a side note, my wife also went in to have her cleaning done along with subsequent fillings afterward and had a stellar experience. I'd recommend their service to anyone.

This office told me I needed unnecessary and expensive treatment. At my last 6-month prophy (August 17, 2015) the new hygienist (Sandy) did perio probing and told me that instead of the usual cleaning, I needed scaling and root planing - a more than $700 procedure - because I have periodontal disease. She said all my gums were inflamed and bleeding. I later calculated from my perio chart that she measured 4-5 mm pockets on 84% of my teeth. Her assessment was very disconcerting because I've had prophys there every six months for several years and until this visit, I have never been told that I have serious perio problems or that I need to use any type of special care at home. I brush and floss every day, so I wondered why: 1) a previous hygienist or Dr. Willock hadn’t mention this problem before, and 2) how my perio status deteriorated so drastically in six months. Having a hygienist instead of the dentist give me a medical diagnosis was also a major concern, especially when Dr. Willock did nothing that I was aware of that would confirm the diagnosis. He looked around my mouth for no more than a few seconds, didn't re-probe any of my teeth, didn’t mention inflammation, and didn't ask the hygienist what my perio scores were. All he said was that he might also put some antibiotic chips in my gums. And for that, I was charged the full exam price. A week later, I got a second opinion. While I do have some 4-5 mm pockets, nowhere near 84% of teeth are affected. Also, there was no gum bleeding or inflammation, and certainly no need for scaling, root planing, or antibiotics. I'm definitely not going back to Dr. Willock, as I no longer trust him or the hygienist.

I went to Dr Willock a couple of years ago and felt his prices were very high. I had 2 crowns and had more pain than i've ever had and thought i would have to get a root canal but finally tooth pain stopped. the lady that cleaned my teeth was so ruff I thought i would never go back there again. Do not recommend this office

Dr. Willock has been my dentist for over 20 years. I have always received amazing care from him and his staff. Their system for reminders and their follow-up calls are much appreciated. I had an appointment last week--there had been an issue and the hygienist was running about 30 minutes behind. They called me to let me know so I could adjust my schedule. I have never waited more than a few minutes to be called back in all these years. They are also quick to submit insurance.

I will NEVER go back. Dr. Willock has all but handed is practice over to his newly hired hygenist. I have been going here for a year or so and have had nothing but positive reports. All the sudden I go in for a cleaning and this Sandy woman tells me that I have all this Peridontal disease and that I am in "danger" and need to have work done immediately. Basically she was using scare tactics. She didn't mention that the periodontal work (Which she isn't even credentialed to diagnose) was a mere $600.00!!! When I demanded to speak to Dr. Willock he fumbled over his words and really had no arguement as to why she was playing dentist. They have ran off all their excellent staff. This office is a greedy joke.

This our first experience visiting a dentist. My daughter and I were quite nervous but as we enter the dental office , you will be welcomed by the friendly smiles of the staff and you can feel the warm , cozy and welcoming environment of the dental clinic. While the hygienist is doing a great job thoroughly cleaning your teeth there is a ceiling mounted monitor showing under water and some natural scenic beauty that will keep you calm and comfortable. Dr. MIchael Willock is very professional in explaining to you the procedure.He listens to your concern and is very thoughtful in his explanation. He has a very light touch that you can't even feel any pain.They also have the latest technology and he keeps himself abreast of current dental procedures. So though it's our first time ,Dr. Willock together with his professional staff gave us a very pleasant experience.

I have known Dr. Willock for many years and have always found him to be conscientious, truthful and inspiring. He is an outstanding dentist, probably the best I have seen. I drive over two hours and through 3 cities to see him for my appointments. It is well worth it. I have had Dr. Willock's bridge in my mouth for over twenty years with no problems but great craftsmanship. Dr. Willock also worked on my son. When my son was a pre-teen he developed a juvenile angio-fibroma and the tumor had extended into the sinus cavity. The nuclear medicine doctor who was taking care of my son's radiation had written an order for sealants. Dr. Willock took the time to personally call the nuclear medicine doctor to introduce himself and make sure that all the dental work would be taken care of exactly as it should be. Dr. Willock was always patient with my son and the many questions that he had. Our entire experience has been exceptional with all of the staff including Dr. Willock. W.D.S.

Dr. Willock is probably one of the finest Dentists in the country! So good in fact that I travel from Kentucky when I need my teeth worked on. He is a Doctor who keeps up with the latest trends in dentistry and has state of the art equipment. His staff is the best and he even gives you his cell phone should you need to contact him in an emergency. The image of Dr. Willocks, face still haunts me to this day. I have permanent nerve damage to my trigeminal nerve thanks to him and his staff! I now have to see a neurologist specialist at Duke to manage the pain (that I never had before)! Plus, you say you are mercury free, that's funny that my endodontist had to remove mercury out of the teeth you severely screwed up! And, please take the label of being holistic off your page, it's a bold face lie! Its money I know that gave you that title, not evidence base! I also gave my review to the Dental Board! The receptionist is very rude and non caring. She basically said "I'm sorry you feel that way" after all the money that I had to pay for fixing his mess of my crown work ( which one tooth didn't need a crown, stated by my insurance based on the x-rays). I still have to pay for his damage. I have chronic pain! Refer a friend...I do...I make sure that if someone speaks of a dentist I tell them not to go to the office and my experience there as well. I have been going to Dr. Willock since I moved here in 1991. Now, my spouse and children do too. Dr. Willock and his team meet our needs with thorough dental cleanings, friendly staff, and flexible scheduling. We often schedule our family or at least part of it with adjacent appointments (3 in a row last visit). They are not a pediatric practice but are great with my kids! They are very efficient, and it's rare that I wait. They are very welcoming to our family, and I highly recommend them to others.

I am very pleased to be going to Dr. Willock because of his wholistic approach to dentistry. I have also discovered that I enjoy his personal approach, not only with me, but with his assistant. So often male physicians or dentists, while being very nice to the patient, have a one up, one down relationship with their assistants. I was in the chair for three hours and was so pleased that they could discuss ideas and she could present a different point of view on some things and he would listen and at times agree with her idea. This was a new experience......one that made me more trusting and happy to be there!

I was SO excited to finally find a dentist in the area who is knowledgeable about how our dental health and body health interrelate: how they impact each other, how to safely treat conditions of the mouth without harming the health of the body, and--most importantly--how health of the body can be improved or restored by applying that knowledge. That knowledge is sadly missing from most dental practices! In addition, the relaxing, "homey" waiting area, the flat screen visuals, and the amazingly pleasant and helpful staff made me feel at home right from the first visit. I've had exceptional service at Dr. Willock's office and am more than grateful for his superior knowledge, care for a person's full-body health, and the expertise of his staff. I highly recommend him!

Have been a patient for over three years and have enjoyed Dr. Willock's professionalism and progressive attitudes towards protecting his patients from unnecessary cancer risks. I enjoy the office staff and they try to work with my schedule by giving me time near mid-day as it takes me three hours to drive from New Bern and again 3 hours to get home. One time they worked through their lunch hour so that I would not have to drive back the next day to finish a bit more work. So do I need to tell you I think he's pretty special.

When I went to see Dr. Willock I was a mess. We had just moved to the area and I didn't know anyone. I needed a doctor who could give me something to help with the extreme anxiety that I had when going to any dentist. Dr. Wilock undid years of anxiety with no pain and I no longer fear going for a visit and I have a beautiful smile to show for it. I highly recommend Dr. Willock and his staff to anyone with anxiety issues and anyone else looking for great dental work.

I had one filling done in the office with a high tech machine. I did not get an estimate and the work was necessary due to pain. I wanted a mercury amalgam removed carefully. I WAS SHOCKEd and embarrassed when they charged me $1000 for my visit. I was at the front desk, and I did not qualify for credit. They did not let me pay for longer than 3 months. I got letters and phone calls from the Office Manager and she was rude and pushy. I felt taken advantage of to pay $1000 for a filling, and then harassed for the money. I have has 12 amalgam fillings removed and NONE of them cost that much money! NOT even close. GO to Dr. Fleming in Durham or Paul Plascyk in Charlotte for safe mercury removal methods. You can get 3 fillings for the price of 1 Willock filling.
