I had high hopes for Smile Tijuana based on their friendly staff and modern-looking equipment, but my experience has been deeply disappointing. Less than a year after getting crowns done here, they started falling out. After returning to Los Angeles, I consulted two separate dentists who both told me the crowns Smile Tijuana applied were temporary—not permanent as I was led to believe. To make matters worse, these crowns didn’t even show up on my dental X-rays, raising more concerns about the materials and quality used. What’s most frustrating is that I now feel I was hustled and misled into redoing my original crowns, which may not have been necessary in the first place. The hassle and expense of traveling back and forth from LA to TJ only added to my frustration. While the staff were courteous and the clinic appeared well-equipped, the overall experience left me feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. I cannot recommend Smile Tijuana based on my experience.
Avo, We’re truly sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling disappointed, and we understand how frustrating it must be to deal with unexpected dental issues, especially when traveling from out of town. We would like to clarify an important aspect of your treatment to avoid any confusion; the crowns placed during your visit were temporary by design, as part of a carefully coordinated plan involving your ongoing Invisalign treatment. Since Invisalign causes gradual tooth movement, placing permanent crowns prematurely could lead to improper fit, bite issues, and compromised long term results. Temporary crowns are meant to protect your teeth during this process and are not intended as final restorations until your orthodontic treatment is completed. Regarding the materials and X-ray visibility, some temporary materials used for provisional restorations do not always show clearly on X-rays, which may explain the feedback you received elsewhere. However, we assure you that we use high quality, materials that are safe and appropriate for each phase of treatment as PMMA temporary crowns done by computer design We genuinely regret that you felt misled, that was never our intention. We will email you all the treatment you have done and your payments. Hope we can clarify the confusion.

I chipped two front teeth after a fall, and choosing this clinic was the best decision I could’ve made for my dental care. Instead of the unnecessary root canal suggested in LA, they saved the tooth and recommended a less invasive but equally permanent solution. Dr. Citlali was incredible; kind, welcoming, and thorough. She made my teeth look PERFECT. You can’t even tell it was ever damaged, absolutely NO pain, flawless results, and a fraction of the cost. HIGH-QUALITY DENTAL WORK. I had/have a great experience here! All the staff are incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable and speak English. The waiting room is very clean and stocked with waters and tea which is a nice plus. I see Dr. Deyre Samaniego for a consultation and fillings. She is the best dentist I have ever seen. She is very patient and explains as she goes so that way you are not left guessing with what she is doing. 11/10 experience with her. I also needed an extraction and was seen with Dr. Marco Moreno. I will say he is extremely efficient he took less than 10 minutes to do the extraction and bone graft. However, he did not believe me at first when I said I was not fully numbed from my tooth but it turned out my root was infected and that's why it was hurting. I ended up getting a shot directly into my nerve and that hurt so bad I wanted to cry. It is pulling teeth and no one is going to have a good experience but it was fine once the numbing medicine in the root started working. I will be going back to the clinic for more work in the future so I will try to update the review, once everything is healed and well. Overall, I love this clinic and would recommend for others to go here too!

Great place! I highly recommend. I have many issues with my gums, teeth, enamel and bone in general. I was recommended Smile Tijuana by a colleague for a CT scan initially, they are so good that I decided to stay for all the needed treatment. They treated 5 cavities, did 1 root canal and 1 implant, all perfect. Going to the dentist is never a pleasant experience but it really helps to know you are in goods hands in a top notch facility.

1 Star – Not Worth the Trip or the Money We traveled over 3 hours to Smile Tijuana for an Invisalign consultation, only to be told it couldn’t be done because of a cavity that was under a crown. It’s frustrating that the dentist failed to detect this issue earlier. the work done previously were already expensive by Tijuana standards, and now it feels like a waste. No treatment was done during this visit, yet we were still charged for a consultation. For patients traveling across the border, the least they could’ve done was waive the fee—especially considering it was their oversight that delayed everything. Thankfully, we found another dentist who handled everything properly and at a much more reasonable cost. We won’t be coming back. Smile Tijuana is overpriced, lacks transparency, and feels more like a business than a place that cares about its patients. If you’re coming here for dental tourism—look elsewhere. There are better options. Don’t be fooled by appearances.

After being quoted over 7k for a dental implant in California, I decided to do research for dentists in Tijuana. I was in between a few options which were dependent on their reviews. But after speaking to Fernanda, her kindness and patience as the patient coordinator, solidified my choice with Smile Tijuana. Just like in CA, I would have my examination with a dentist who in this case was Dr. Gonzales. She was kind, informative and said everything looked great for the implant. I had scheduled through a deposit ahead of time to have the surgery performed the same day with a specialist. The specialist came in with his technician, checked the radiographs and additional images and said the bone was solid so we were able to continue. I kid you not, this procedure took less than 25 minutes. I was literally in and out. And he numbed my mouth perfectly. Again, this was for one dental implant for an area that never grew the adult tooth. So I did not need a bone graft. It’s a process so I will be back about 2-3 more times for the abuntment and the crown. I was prescribed antibiotics and pain medication with straightforward instructions. It couldn’t have been a better experience. I will be getting veneers and crown lengthening as well later this year through Smile Tijuana :) Thank you again! ?

Instead of getting a molar pulled in the US due to expensive dentist prices (even with insurance), Smile Tijuana helped me save the tooth at a fraction of the cost. They were kind, informative, and very professional every step of the way. They brought in specialists to perform certain procedures I needed to save the tooth (root canal and crown lengthening), and the facilities were much nicer than any dentist I have been to in the US. If you need a crown like I did, just know it will require a couple visits since they have to take the mold to fit you for the crown during the first appointment, which an off site lab makes the permanent crown that you will have to return to have installed. Even with the multiple visits, it was a great experience and I will definitely be returning for more dental work in the future and recommending them to friends and family.

For someone who likes to shop around, especially for something as important as my smile, I knew I had to get it right. My first contact was with Fernanda, the patient coordinator. She was a gem, patiently and efficiently answering over a dozen emails from me. Then I met with Criss Meléndrez, who was incredibly kind and informative about Smile Tijuana’s process. What stood out to me was how she truly listened to my needs and goals. Having had braces, I preferred composite veneers over porcelain, which felt too invasive. Criss respected my decision without any pressure to change my mind, and I really appreciated that. Ultimately, I chose Smile Tijuana for several reasons: 1. The care team – Their communication was excellent, and they were clearly well-organized. 2. Their process – They have a unique method for veneers, sending a 3D model of your smile to a lab to ensure it’s perfect when applying the composite. Traveling from the Bay Area to Tijuana, I felt a bit anxious, but that quickly changed upon arrival. I've been to maybe a dozen dentist offices in the last decade, this one is easily the best. Their work is immaculate, even filling cavities other dentist offices said needed root canals. Not even is their work top notch, but theyre also far cheaper than even the budget places in the US. I even travel 3 whole hours to get here because their service is just that good. I’m so glad I came to Smile Tijuana! After getting fed up with my U.S. insurance and the exorbitant copays, I decided to explore other options. I work for a company in San Diego that creates websites for periodontists, orthodontists, and cosmetic dentists, so I did thorough research and had high expectations. Smile Tijuana stood out to me, offering a great quote. I parked at the border, walked over, and took an $8 taxi to the dentist. The security guard greeted me at the door, and I headed up to the office. It was immaculate and equipped with state-of-the-art technology! I've never seen such a modern dental office before—I was truly impressed. The entire staff was incredibly hospitable and friendly. I had my two bottom wisdom teeth removed and replaced my silver mercury fillings with brand new white composite ones. I chose to stay awake during the wisdom teeth extraction, and they numbed me very well. The procedure was quick and easy! Now, without my old silver fillings, I feel more confident in my smile and can laugh openly. On top of the excellent service, my overall cost at Smile Tijuana was way cheaper than what it would have been at my dentist in San Diego, even with insurance and deductibles. Next on my list at Smile Tijuana are braces, and I’m looking forward to my upcoming appointment. Overall, I had a wonderful and seamless experience. I highly recommend Smile Tijuana and their fantastic staff and doctors.

My partner and I have had several visits at Smile Tijuana. We like all the people there. We have always been treated with courtesy and kindness. The office is clean and well equipped, and it's easy to get to and in a nice modern building. They have their own equipment to take panoramic x-rays and cone beam CT scans. There are several doctors. Dr. Gonzalez has been treating my partner and has been able to crown some badly decayed front teeth and match the new crowns perfectly to the crowns he already had. Dr. Leslie has been trying to save one of my teeth that had some bad treatment in Los Algodones; my partner and I will not be going back to that town! Dr. Roberto Rivera, the surgeon at Smile Tijuana, extracted my tooth with great care and thorough communication, after it became clear that the tooth could not be saved. My partner and I have both had to have some teeth extracted, and we will be returning to Smile Tijuana to have the teeth replaced with dental implants when our bone grafts are strong enough in 3-4 months. We plan to stick with Smile Tijuana!

I started my treatment in December 2023 until April 2014....I had a complete examination and, xrays, and cleaning. And I had four new crowns installed, as well as several fillings. I waited over a month to write this review to see how the new veneers would be fitting on me. So this is a very fresh and recent experience, hopefully can provide some perspectives to those who are considering getting dental work done in Mexico. This idea going to Mexico to fix the teeth or to do some cosmetic work never came across to my mind until the #1 factor hit me which is the cost to replace my nearly 13 years old veneers. So I quickly searched around and also asked few friends and coworkers, finally I picked this clinic. What stood out the most from the very beginning was staff's quick response to questions, seemed very friendly and accommodating. Going there wasn't a problem, parked the car at the boarder parking lot, walked over to the boarder control station, hailed a cab to the clinic. Once I arrived, the front desk staff was very helpful, I noticed the clinic is very clean and new ( there is waiting area still under construction work ). Dr. Emilia was my dentist ( the one with British accent ), she's direct to the point and I found super easy to communicate to her with my questions and needs. Once the treatment plan is set, following is all technical details. Her work is very efficient. I had all top 9 veneers replaced with a total three trips. The results are fantastic, except getting bites readjusted by my own dentist few times. No one could have guessed the whole procedure was completed in Mexico. What I also needed to mention is that the amazing painless anesthesia delivery system. I can not recommend smile tijuana enough.

I did my research on all the recommendations I got. I went with SMILE because they’re good at what they do. I came for orthodontist work and I ended up coming back for a root canal and they did amazing. They genuinely care about their patients. The staff in front is amazing, they get to know you and you them. It’s about a 7 min Uber drive from the the boarder. They’re also really quick to get you in if there is a slot. The best way to to reach them is whats ap, I’ve never had issues. I highly recommend.

When I was in search of a dentist it took me a few places to finally find one I was comfortable with. I’ve got everything from extractions to braces. Doctor Criss and her team are awesome people, they inform you what the process is and why you need the process done. They have state of the art Texans machinery. They have everything in house so you’re not being sent all over the place. It literally a 4 minute taxi/Uber ride from the border. Since I was little I’ve had a lot of unnecessary work with medical insurance in the states. Now that I’m 38, I have suffered a lot to give treatment and maintenance to my teeth, which is painful and cost-full. I’m so glad I found her, she’s had to do a lot of repair work but I have been very happy with the results. I know that on my visits, I can truly trust that she will take care of me. I may walk in nervous, but from the moment she puts anesthesia (which I have never felt pain w her) until she’s done, I get so relaxed, I have even fell asleep ?. Although my dental reconstruction has barely begun, I could not be happier so far.. My cosmetic dentist and assistant are awesome. Dr. E. Is very skilled and bossy but I love her,? Update 12 November, 2023 My dental reconstruction is finally over and the results surpass my expectations. I’m a senior (79 yrs old) and 80 years of grinding and coffee took a toll on my teeth. Someone was looking after me when I picked Smile Tijuana out of the blue. I was even luckier when Dr. Emilia became my dentist. I know less than zero about dentistry but I can recognize skill when I see it and Dr. Emilia is very skilled. Dr. Emilia answered every single question I had and often anticipated them. The facility is spotless, the equipment state of the art, the assistants very professional and kind and the patient coordinators, Fernanda and Sinai extremely efficient, e-mail are replied to almost immediately. Going to the dentist is not one of my favorite things to do but frankly I’ve been looking forward to every appointment. It was along journey but well worth it. If you don’t use Smile Tijuana for your dental needs you are doing yourself a disservice. In closing, no one has given me anything for free for this review, this is nothing but my unbiased opinion. Smile Tijuana was referred by a friend who was having work done there. Having never gone to a Tijuana dentist (live in San Diego), I was a little reluctant. But, to the contrary, the facility has newer equipment (newer than one of my San Diego dentists), was very clean and very professional. I'm in the process of having an implant, root canal and several crowns. So far, had 2 tooth removed (no pain) and the drugstore delivered prescription to the dental office. A very easy day...We left No County San Diego at 9am - had two teeth removed - back home by 1pm. I highly recommend Smile Tijuana.

I had a positive first experience at my dental appointment here at Smile Tijuana. The staff is honest and really professional and were very helpful in answering all my questions and they went above and beyond to accommodate to all my needs and made me feel at ease. I went in for a consultation for a dental implant and the use of a visual model helped explain the process step by step which I found very helpful. Their office was impressively clean, in fact I’d say cleaner than other officers I’ve visited up north and the use of their state of the art technology was superb. The method of anesthesia without the use of needles was surprisingly comforting, which don’t really bother me, but my understanding is most people can’t stand the sight of needles so that is a plus. They also have a designated parking garage for clients so having to save the time it takes driving around in circles to find a parking spot is priceless and well worth the 1 1/2 hour drive. I’m looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Smile Tijuana, for making this experience a good one. I will definitely be recommending all my family and friends.

Back on May 18th, I went to an appointment at this facility and I wrote them a bad review on Google Maps because the dentists seemed most interested in getting as much money from me as possible and totally failed to address my main concern regarding my #25 tooth. However, now I find out that they deleted my review! Only GOD knows how many bad reviews this dental facility has deleted in the past and continues to do so!!!! YOU ARE WARNED!

2 weeks ago I was seen at Smile Tijuana on the recommendation of a friend, Dr. Jair gave me a cleaning and I am very happy with how he treated me and that it didn't hurt, I hadn't been to the dentist in several years and I really needed a cleaning, the clinic is super nice, clean and with a very modern design, they used a scanner in my mouth instead of those impressions that make you feel like you're drowning, I had always been afraid because the material they use to take impressions makes me nauseous and now I don't have to go through that anymore, in 1 month I have an appointment to start my braces treatment and then get a smile design. If you go here you will feel in a safe place, all the staff is very friendly, the doctors are very professional, and the prices are much lower than in the United States

I went to get a crown on April & the dentist García stated he needed to leave a surtan space between the crown and my other tooth to be able to floss well he kept on doing something with his machine well the tooth next to the crown was hurting after that but never before the crown so I thought maybe it is because of the pressure well last week my tooth chipped the one next to the crown and I am 100% sure is due to the machine he kept on using to make a gap for the floss mind you the chipp is not on the bottom is on the side right next to the crown one. now I have a tooth that never had an issue with, chipped and I am very very upset & I am not the one to give bad reviews but sadly for the price and the work I definitely would not recommend this dentistry office live and learn.

I had paid Cash for the Procedure, and I come from the United States, thousands of miles away. I had assumed that I would be stuck with the Costs of remedy on my own. This place is amazing! I live in San Diego and decided to try this place because dentists in San Diego are so expensive. I just turned 26 and my crown chipped, and I could no longer use my parents dental insurance... I know I'm spoiled. So I needed to get a new crown, I decided to try to save some money and come here. I got my crown replaced with a stronger zirconia crown for half the price! I saved so much money and this place is even nicer than the dentist I used to go to in San Diego. The office is beautiful, and the staff are great. Everyone is very friendly, informative and bilingual. The place looks cutting edge and I felt very comfortable through the my visit. The numbing process was painless, they had some machine that injected the numbing so slowly I didn't even feel it. Way better than my dentist at home, where usually the numbing injection is so painful. My crown turned out great! 3 months later and still love it. Looks great and is so smooth and polished. They took the extra time to make sure my bite was perfect before I left. Definitely recommend this place, only a short 7min taxi ride from the border. Also this might be a noob tip, but if your phone data isn't working after you cross the border, try setting your data to roaming mode after that I was able to call an Uber.

I flew from Alaska to San Diego and made the trip over to Smile Tijuana to have some overdue and completely unaffordable-in-the-states, dental work done. This was basically a smile makeover that included the holistic replacement of not only a very poorly done 3-unit bridge with metal showing, but of allll fillings that Id had ever done following an early childhood full of trauma and neglect; as well as 5 composite veneers. All artistically completed by the master of her craft, Dr Emilia Quintanar. Who wasnt actually the dentist that Id discussed my treatment plan with initially, which at first made me feel like 'AH!' but after meeting and experiencing Dr Emilia, and learning that Dr Criss's baby needed her presence after being hospitalized, I understood and got to witness this womans selflessness first hand. From her *and wonderful staff!* staying for hours after closing time during the holiday season to make sure everything fit perfectly, to her giving me a quick lift to my hotel after a long night in the dentist chair; having underestimated my need for a jacket and feeling weary of walking alone after dark (it actually wasnt very far and was more well-lit than I thought it might be.) I truly couldnt be more thrilled and grateful to have stumbled upon Smile Tijuana and landed with this beautiful spanish speaking woman from London, who empathized with my occasionally overly emotional and very human experience, in office and out. I'll never forget getting stranded at la plaza and freaking out when 4 ubers in a row canceled on me at dark, only to be rescued by my fantastic dentista familia, concerned about my whereabouts, who sent trusty alejandro right away. He held space for my irrational tears that night and took me to the airport the following day, happy to see that I was in a much better place with a new smile on my face after finishing my last dental treatment with Dr Emilia. I never thought a dentist's office would be my safe place, let alone in a foreign country! Much healing was done for a lot of little me's during my week in tijuana with these wonderful people, and I could never forget my experience with mi bonita senioritas, and JJ; mi dentista familia<3 From the dental assistant occasionally tapping happily away to christmas tunes, to the email coordinators and the lovely front desk ladies, who had nothing but kind words to say to me, some that left me speechless at their sweetness! Before during and after the 6 days I spent with them. Even after having braces as a teenager, Ive spent a lifetime hiding my smile.. and after many consultations and invasive recommendations, I found these incredible dentistas who are taking a step in the right direction, toward dental treatment that works in a biologically supportive way with the entire mental/emotional/physical self. I also, frankly, in all my hours in the dental chair.. learned to coexist, in peace, with very scared little parts of myself. I remember saying to myself over and over at times, 'I Am at Peace with My Self, and I am soooo grateful for that' and it just being words at first... but with Dr Emilias support and loving nature, I was able to surrender and trust this human and her sweet assistant, in a way that they might not understand, will for sure have lasting effects on me. Not only did I save more than 50% in the end, but my life has been changed forever. In a way that you just cant know when you havent been 'smile privileged' for the first 33 years of your life. I cant thank you enough, Dr Emilia, for going above and beyond to give me this priceless gift.... of smiling with ease in photos with my kids, in conversations with new friends... it opens up an unprecedented chapter, a new avenue of expression of Self, of Joy! What a gift. Also, shoutout to man who guards the outside of the building, he looks tough but hes a big ol sweetie pie that told me I had nice eyes and even ran to help me when I fell up the stairs trying not to be late, ha. I had a dental cleaning and I really enjoyed it. Starting with the excellent customer service at the front desk, Sinai was very nice, friendly, and professional. She offered me something to drink and had me fill out paperwork to check my allergies and medical history, which was very helpful. They took X-rays, then proceeded to clean my teeth, and gave me a diagnosis of the condition of all my teeth. I really liked that. I recommend them 100%.

My experience at Smile Tijuana is the best I have had in many years. All the staff are very friendly! From the entrance, everything looks clean and very nice. They have elevator service, their floors are very nice and clean. The entrance to the surgery looks very secure and only patients and staff have access to the entrance. The office is very clean and they have new technology, which, as a patient, makes me feel better; and the main thing is that they are very honest about the treatment one really needs. Previously, my husband and I went to another office for a consultation and we realized that they wanted to rob us, because upon attending Smile Tijuana, we realized that the other office wanted to charge us 4 times more than the quote they gave us at Smile Dental Tijuana! I been calling for the past 3 days. No one answers the phone. I believe They screen their calls and due to the fact that I had inquired about dentist credentials my calls are not answered. I would be very concerned and weary about this dental facility in addition they claim to be top cosmetic dentist if you look at Dr.Criss Melendez front teeth you can see that her crown does not match the rest of her teeth! Speaks volumes about their work. Good luck

The technology they use in this office is very impressive compared to the equipment the more “affordable” dentist use in California. They speak perfect English so it’s very easy to communicate. Save your money. I had a bridge put in here while I was on a year long vacation. It broke in two months. They repaired it but it broke again. They are lovely people but I found the bridge to be of poor quality and not strong or made of good material. I had it re-done when I moved to the Netherlands where I live now. It cost me considerable more than I paid in Mexico but it's of amazing quality and very stong. At the same time I went here on the recomendation of a long time friend who has a lot of work done here and she was totally satisfied. .

I have a Clinical FEAR of DENTIST! I needed major surgery done and found Smile Tijuana the BEST..!!! I needed a bone graph, extraction and a few root canals......let the Panic attacks start!!! I made 3 appointments with 3 different Dentist's, did all my research, hours upon hours. Went to my first one, not impressed...as soon as I walked into Smile Tijuana I knew I found my place. Note: there is no sign on the building, I like that they are not the "Cattle Call" type dentist you see in TJ. I was Greeted by very nice receptionist, AromaTherapy (mmmm..so relaxing) and friendly staff. I cannot believe how High Tech everything was and Spa like. They offer OZONE THERAPY with every extraction. I was impressed (Google it) After x-rays ($75 worth it for the 3D) and discussion, I decided, quite easily to go with them. I paid the extra for IV Sedation( knock me out PLEASE....My fear was huge!!) Booked the surgery for 1 week out, the office called checking on my me twice and the day before! I booked a room across the street (Hotel Real deRio...nice place) for my recovery. I had no idea what to expect..... Day of appointment I was greeted warmly and met my "Team"...literally there were 5 people...LOL The anesthesiologist walked me through everything she was going to do. Then the Dentist came over and noticing my nerves, let me chat and ask more questions..poor guy!! He said OK, we need to start...... I woke up and was AMAZED!!! I was a lil groggy but within a few minutes I was able to get up and walk, gauze in mouth. No Pain, No Fear. They gave my companion instructions for AfterCare and were very gentle with me. They even saved me the bad tooth, that was eye opening and very cool. Went to hotel and slept for about 4 hours and was good to go home. It is now day 3.....little swelling, hardly notice it. (Ozone therapy is great for healing) The extraction site is healing nicely...I am so VERY grateful for the understanding ( I was a handful of fear..) and the attention to detail. I can't wait to get my entire mouth fixed....at 1/4th the USA prices by the way! THANK YOU SMILE TIJUANA

hmm where do we start: First meeting: I came to the apt after visiting a couple of other offices. They were very receptive and friendly and the male orthodontist looked over my mouth. He made a plan and told me I need to get some teeth removed and fix some cavities. They had a good deal if you pay with cash and I did that. I got my teeth removed at a different place because frankly, besides the braces, there are cheaper places and I can get around so I got my teeth removed at a different clinic. We scheduled an apt a week after because I needed an expander to be made. 2nd Meeting: Since I have to fly to get there, my date was set in stone and when I confirmed, they told me that my apt was the next day. I'm not sure if there was confusion, or they just change the dates as they please? (I would really confirm over and over again on the times since Mexican culture is just way more lax on times and dates). So they allowed me to come on the date I wanted, but instead I got Sinai (sp?) who runs this clinic and maybe another one down south. The head ortho was lovely, what kind of struck me is that she would have a different plan than the first ortho and questioned why I got my teeth removed somewhere else (I paid half of what they wanted to charge). The braces were put on well and its good quality and my teeth have been moving well. 3rd Visit: Went very well, according to plan and no problems. Communication: 10/10, very responsive on Whatsup, willing to answer questions and doing so in minutes and very friendly Location:10/10 its in a safe area and a modern building close to the border crossing. Braces: 10/10 Braces stay on, the glue came off on the expander 5 months in but it's understandable since my mouth really goes through a lot of movement and its surprising it stuck that long even with. Great work. Scheduling/Collarboration: 6/10 The in-office coordination between the orthos and the front office people can be better. Both gave me different information, and it takes some effort to make sure that BOTH parties are on the same page. Again, might be cultural, but it's rare to have to navigate this in the states especially if you don't speak spanish and area already overwhelmed. I recommend them 100%. But just take precautions and make sure everything is set in stone. An appointment should NEVER be changed without the patients approval first especially when it takes a lot of effort to get to Tijuana. They have been accommodating with my time requests and everything else and are very understanding and friendly. I will update this as my treatment continues

I started my treatment with Smile Tijuana back in June of 2021 and presently, in May 2022, I have seen immense improvement in my teeth in just that short span of time. I have not had great experiences at the dentist before, and I really don't like going. The office was clean and calm and the staff was friendly and professional. I didn't have to wait at all and the staff answered all of my questions before they did anything. Pricing was clearly communicated by the office staff before my appointment, as well as the time for treatment, as I was also doing a whitening treatment. I'm very happy with my results and would recommend the practice. Things to remember if you're coming from the US - download your map on your phone ahead of time so when you lose service at the border, you're not trying to navigate blind. The streets are narrow, traffic is fast and there are a lot of cars. The wait time to get back in the US was almost 5 hours in April 2022. Plan accordingly.

Smile Tijuana stands behind their work. I had 2 root canals and 2 crowns done by Smile Tijuana 2 years ago by a dentist that no longer works for them. The 2 crowns did not seal properly, and my American dentist said I had to have the 2 crowns redone. I contacted Smile Tijuana telling them I was having this issue. They replied that they would be happy to re-do the 2 crowns at no cost with another one of their dentists. Dr. Citlali Gonzalez ended up replacing the 2 crowns. She did meticulous work and could tell I was in good hands. She had a great attitude, friendly and personable. Also Sinai at the front desk was awesome! I am very happy with the work they did, which my dentist in US would have charged me another $2,200.00 for replacing those 2 crowns. It was definitely worth a trip back to Tijuana. I have recommended several friends to Smile Tijuana, all who have reported back to me that they were very happy with the work. My girlfriend recommended this place to me. My back tooth broke off a couple weeks ago. I called them and scheduled a visit. Everything went supper smooth. The dentist explained to me that she had to clean out the rest of the tooth and order a ceramic replacement. Came in for the second visit and I was eating tacos my the end of the day. Their services vary and payments are manageable to pay out of pocket. Doing so with insurance from the U.S would be costly. Their location is not too far from the border. Overall, they are very trustworthy and made me feel comfortable. A little bit about my experience is that I first started my treatment with Dr. Criss Melendez and notice improvement right away. After they relocated and expanded their services, I was transferred with Dr. Cristian Garcia, and he is a perfectionist. Really love what he does and also took into consideration what I wanted to change and fix too. Overall Smile Tijuana is a great place and with an amazing staff. She did some of my composite fillings for my tooth necks and also renewed one, which was messed up by a dentist in Stockholm, Sweden. You cannot even tell a difference to my natural teeth. In the end I only needed the extraction, I was seen by a specialist and I really respect that she spent the time to explain to me what she saw in my mouth and recommended I be conservative regarding the root canal because one of my crowns was not fit correctly hence the pain. A lot of dentists would have just gone ahead and done the root canal for the $. She did not. She explained the possibilities and solutions to try first before going ahead with a root canal which I respect her for a lot. This was amazing news for me. She gave me options and was very easy to talk with and showed compassion for my situation. I'm very glad I chose smile Tijuana, Dr. Emilia I feel is an amazing dentist and my health is so much better from all the work that she's done on me with the amalgam removals and fillings and getting a tooth extracted. I also got a deep cleaning there as well. Which for me was a pretty painful operation, not the operation itself but afterwards I was in pain for a few days. Some pain medication would have been nice to have but I took Ibuprofen and that made it ok but I was still in a lot of pain. My experience interacting with the staff was always pleasant. I did deal with some scheduling SNAFU's a couple of times where the communication of what to be done on the day I was there was different from what I was told over the phone.. Dr. Emilia was very accommodating to make those problems go away if it was possible for her with her time. She has amazing stamina and not that I enjoy being in the dentist chair but I appreciate having healthy teeth after years of neglect on my part. I had multiple cavities and there were two times where dr. Emilia worked on me for at least 2 and a half hours without a break. I think that is wonderful work ethic and and very professional. So all in all 5 stars, I feel the mouth pain and scheduling was a problem but not big enough to take away a 5 star rating, also because dr. Emilia was accommodating to do the work I had expected. I very much appreciate the time professionals have put into perfecting their trade and also much love to the ones in the health care field

I've heard that the quality of dental care in the Mexican border cities is comparable to that in the US but for only a fraction of the price. My only concern was the frequency of travel that would be required for orthodontic work. However, after a little research, I found that Smile Tijuana has an orthodontic system that requires checkups once every three months as opposed to the standard once a month. The quality of care, cleanliness, technology, and hospitality are all absolutely first-class by any standard of measure. I'm only paying a third of the cost, without using insurance, than what my treatment would normally cost in the US with a good dental plan. Also worth noting that English is spoken here. A+ all the way!

I love the care I receive at Smile Tijuana. It's only about 4 minutes from the border on the Via Rapida and the inside parking garage is really convenient. The work is just as good as any I've gotten in the states and usually about 30% of the cost. I don't recall any experiencing any pain as they always use enough Novocain that I really feel nothing. On the rare occasion that I see a dentist in San Diego, he(a graduate of USC school of Dentistry) is always impressed by the quality of work that they perform. I normally see. Dr. Gonzalez Rosales and she handles my cleanings and anything else I need. She did some cosmetic work on me last month and the results were amazing.

Dr. Silvia Guzmán is my dentist at this practice. Her kind, skilled care restored the aesthetics of my smile and the function of my teeth. A childhood accident and an extraction happy dentist took too many of my teeth. Los Angeles dentists paying off student loans damaged more. When I first saw Dr. Silvia, I had almost no hope of going through a single day without pain in my mouth or shame over the state of my teeth. She changed this. With each visit, I felt a little more able to believe that things would get better. Dr. Silvia never made me feel bad about the state of my mouth. The reassuring, gentle way she treated me made me feel human, even when the state of my teeth made me feel otherwise. The quality of Dr. Silvia's work is excellent. Even her temporary crowns fit better than most of the permanent crowns I received from other dentists. Her holistic approach resulted in a comfortable bite, pink gums and easier speech. Nothing in my mouth is too big, too small, or obviously fake. The price of Smile Tijuana's work is very affordable. By the time I found this practice, I had already spent thousands of dollars trying to fix my teeth. Every single thing Smile Tijuana does is dramatically less expensive than analogous treatments in the United States. Furthermore, this practice is honest. I have never been doubled billed. I have never had to search through old receipts to prove I paid for anything. Dr. Silvia does not perform any procedure without your consent. Visiting this practice does require a trip to Tijuana. The physical location of the office is only a few miles away from the border. It was a long drive for me, every time, but I would drive longer to access Dr. Silvia's care. Tijuana has always been a positive experience Don't let the internet scare you. The people I've interacted with have been genuinely friendly and kind. Any time I looked like I needed help, someone was already there to see if I was ok. You should act like you're in a big city when visiting Tijuana because it is a big city. The worst part of the TJ trip is always the return wait at the border. It's a pain. My teeth, however, are worth the sore bum.

Recently I had a dental emergency (in the middle of the pandemic, naturally) and was unable to start receiving the dental treatment that I needed in the U.S, so I contacted Smile dentistry to see if they could help me out. They promptly scheduled a consultation and I was able to also see a specialist and even begin treatment that same day. I was struck by the ultra high hygienic standards that they employed which included disinfecting your shoes prior to entering the office, as well as providing coverings for shoes and hair and a bag for all my belongings. The doctors were all wearing super protective gear and it made me feel very safe and relieved much of the anxiety I was feeling that day. The all-female doctors and staff made me feel comfortable and seemed genuinely interested in all my long winded explanations and answered all my questions with patience, compassion and the utmost professionalism. When I left the dental office that day, I was able to sigh a breath of relief because I was able to begin my journey toward improved oral health, and with a clear idea of the work that I need to get there. I cannot thank Smile enough for their care. If you are putting off dental maintenance, don't do it... run, don't walk, to Smile for top notch care that is so rare to get these days.

This is one of the best offices in Tijuana to attend, I have already had my orthodontic treatment for 3 years and I started with a different Dentist and the results were not being as effective until I arrived with Dr. Criss a year ago and the treatment has had incredible results. This is a great dentist, I go here regularly because I don't have insurance in the US and haven't for a long time. I have had fillings, root canals, crowns, and even an extraction done here this year. Every time the staff are friendly and professional. Dr. Silvia is a skilled dentist who really seems to care about her work. I have had some very long and difficult appointments but it really seems like she never skips a detail and won't stop until you're in good shape. I really appreciate that because I've had careless dentists cause problems for me in the past by doing lazy work. Their office and tools are better than any of the budget dentists I had been to in San Diego. Very fair prices. Definitely recommend these guys to anyone!

Are these real reviews? I wanted to know if you guys can help a friend of mine that needs to replace a lot of new crowns put in so terribly that she can't bite down. She's a Baja local and after months of pain and lies she is left with a worse situation and her back teeth don't even touch each other by a couple centimeters. Her front teeth are now really huge but her bottom front are twice as small as her normal teeth were and do not look like real teeth. After she spent thousands of dollars I'm hoping to help her by finding a dentist she can trust and that will offer discounts. It's sad how she only needed bonding with resin and now can only get crowns after her teeth were prepped for crowns. She trusts people too easily and now lost her natural smile forever. She is very depressed right now and has lost a lot of hope. Thank you.

Dr. Criss Melendrez is an incredible dentist! I am honestly extremely satisfied with the service I have received so far. If you are someone like me, anxious and extremely worried, I hope that this review will put your mind at ease. I have had 6 appointments with Dr. Criss so far, and I have nothing negative to say about her, her office or her staff. I had a terrible experience 7 years ago with a dentist, and as a result of that, I didn't go to see anyone since that time. I was so anxious going down to Mexico, and getting work done there, that's one thing, and coming to see a dentist after the hell I had gone through in the U.S. My first appointment with her, I was honestly sweating and hyperventilating. Dr. Criss used aroma therapy, I can't say that it helped me relax too much, but she went above and beyond to make sure that I was ok. She allowed me to rest my mouth, we took frequent breaks, she took pictures and showed me what the problems were, she took the time to explain what she was doing and why. One of the bad cavities that she opened up ended up needing a root canal, so you can imagine my stress levels were through the roof. When I went back to get the post op, pin, and crown done, Dr. Criss opened up the tooth and she decided that it's best not to do a crown, because my tooth had internal resorption, and if she were to grind around the filling that the specialist had done, she would basically open up the tooth, which would cause a fracture and the crown wasn't the best option. I want to stress that the resorption wasn't caused because of the root canal specialist, it was because of the wisdom tooth that had been pressing against that tooth for years. Anyways, my point is, she could've easily charged me 650 for the crown/post up, but she didn't. She chose to do a filling for that tooth, because she believed that that tooth has a better chance to recover, than if she opens it up further. So she charged me 100 for a filling rather than the 650. Every decision that she's made so far about my teeth hasn't been dictated my money, I don't go to her office and feel like she's doing things and procedures that I need just to get money out of me. Some other notes about her office. It's very clean, modern, well kept. It's a small space, but they've made great use of it. There is music in the background, so that helps you relax. Lanna, the office receptionist/assistant, is pretty amazing as well. She'll go above and beyond to help you, whether that be give you directions, reply to emails or answer any questions that you might have. The office works with some American benefit companies, such as Aetna, you'll still have to pay out of pocket, but if you have a PPO plan you might be able to claim the work done. Dr. Criss has great prices, it's still WAY CHEAPER to get work done with her, than in the US with benefits :( The office is located about 5 minutes away from the border, there is a McDonald's right there, so you can park your car and it's safe. You can also walk over the border, take a taxi (like Taxi Libre) or even use Uber. From the border to the office it's 5 bucks for a taxi, 2 bucks with Uber. Dr. Criss Melendrez is very professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly understanding. I can't keep my mouth open for very long, so she works with me, let's me rest up in between procedures, take breaks. I can honestly say that my anxiety around the dentist is gone, I even laughed and joked around with her today. There is no pain during the fillings, pressure and discomfort yes, but you don't feel her drilling around or poking or anything like that. I very rarely find a doctor that I really like, but honestly guys, she is very good at what she does. You will get way better service here than in the U.S. Her office is almost never late with appointments, maybe 5, 10 minutes, and that has only happened once. Dr. Criss will only spend her time on you, she's not running from one room to another, and you are interacting with her, not the assistant. I highly recommend her and her team!

As strange as this sounds, I really enjoy visiting my dentist - and it's mainly because of this place. I've spent the last two years getting orthodontic work at Smile Tijuana, and I always look forward to going there because it is friendly, professional and efficient. When I tell people I go to the dentist in Tijuana I get varied looks of concern and unease. But I assure them that it is the best dental experience I have ever had. I did a lot of research before coming to this place and let me say that my expecations were far exceeded and beyond anything I could have imagined. With allt the 5 star reviews, they speak for themselves and every bit is true. The dentist was never the most fun place to go for me growing up, and as such, I neglected to take care of my teeth as well as I should have (I am now paying the price, litterally and figuretively. Lesson learned). However, Dr. Criss and team of staff put me at ease with their kindness, care, and cleanliness. They are holistic in their approach to dental work and do not like to do any unecessary procedures, which I prefer and agree with. I came in wanting to get my amalgam out (silver filings with mercury), fix a cracked crown, cleaning, and anything else that was necessary to get my teeth healthy and prepared for orthodontic work. After taking x-rays of my teeth she went over all the procedures that needed to be done with the corresponding prices. They are honest in their work and some procedures were not required, so they did not perform them, which saved me money, time, and peace of mind. I can't stress how amazing this place is to go to. I tell all my friends about it and now telling the world here on Yelp. Go here, you will not be dissapointed.
