Meet Dr. Lilly
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Lilly discovered her passion for pediatric dentistry after years of serving as a general dentist during her time as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. A graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Biological Sciences and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific, Dr. Lilly has worked across the U.S., from Newport, Rhode Island, to Seattle.
During her service, she provided care for recruits, sailors, veterans, and their families, with a unique opportunity to work in a pediatric-focused setting. It was this experience that inspired her dedication to children’s dental care.
Returning to California, Dr. Lilly brings her experience and passion to The Spot for Smiles, providing exceptional care to every patient. Her approach focuses on teamwork, prevention, and creating a fun and welcoming environment. Outside the office, she loves hiking, running, and spending time with her mini Australian Shepherd, Coconut!
Meet Dr. Brett Martin
Dr. Brett Martin, a Folsom, California native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from UC Davis and completed his dental studies at UCLA, receiving his DDS degree. With a passion for ethical practices and pediatric care, Dr. Martin was a founding member of the Student Professional and Ethics Association (SPEA) and found his calling in pediatric dentistry during his volunteer work.
Dr. Martin further honed his expertise at UCSF, completing a pediatric specialty program and earning a Master of Science in Oral and Craniofacial Biology. A Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of various dental organizations, Dr. Brett focuses on providing expert, compassionate care.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Brett enjoys hiking, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Meet Dr. Norma Cortez
Dr. Norma Cortez, lovingly called "Dr. Norma" by patients and parents, discovered her passion for pediatric dentistry while assisting in her father’s dental lab as a student. After earning her DDS and undergraduate degrees from Universidad Evangelica de El Salvador, she ran two successful practices before moving to the U.S. to specialize in pediatric dentistry.
Having practiced in Los Angeles for 10 years, Dr. Norma now brings her expertise to Northern California, where she continues to create meaningful dental experiences for children. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Dr. Norma is an affiliated member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and other professional organizations.
When she's not in the office, Dr. Norma enjoys traveling, hiking, and visiting museums.
Meet Dr. Ian Marion
Dr. Ian Marion has dedicated his career to creating positive dental experiences for children and encouraging lifelong healthy habits. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of the Pacific in Stockton and earning his DDS degree at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, Dr. Ian pursued specialized pediatric dentistry training through residencies in New York and Seattle, earning a Master of Science in Dentistry.
Dr. Ian has extensive experience as both a clinician and educator, having served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois Chicago. There, he trained future dentists while engaging in outreach programs to support at-risk communities.
Now back in California, Dr. Ian focuses on providing advanced pediatric care, including treatments like laser dentistry and esthetic crowns. A Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, his welcoming and engaging chairside approach helps children feel comfortable.
When not practicing, Dr. Ian enjoys hiking, Marvel movies, zoos, and cheering on California sports teams.
Meet Dr. Estella Kim
Dr. Estella Kim specializes in dental anesthesia services across the Sacramento Valley. A Loma Linda University graduate with a post-doctorate in Dental Anesthesiology, her extensive training encompasses cardiology, internal medicine, and pediatric-focused anesthesia.
Dr. Kim is affiliated with leading dental and anesthesiology organizations, ensuring the highest standards of care for her patients. She focuses on creating a calm and safe environment, particularly for special needs and pediatric patients.
Meet Dr. Samuel C. Seiden, MD, FAAP
Dr. Samuel C. Seiden, a Chicago native, brings vast experience in pediatric anesthesiology to our team. A graduate of Brown University, Dr. Seiden completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University and has worked extensively in Sacramento-area hospitals as well as serving as a faculty member at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Seiden’s mission is to ensure stress-free anesthesia experiences for children through tailored techniques, from tablet distractions to magic tricks. Today, was my son's first appointment. He had a check-up and cleaning. We were greeted instantly when we walked in. Our wait time was no longer than four minutes. When the assistant, Stacy, took us back, she was very kind and explained to my son everything she was doing. She asked him if he was okay and checked to make sure he was comfortable. My son has anxiety so this scored points with me and him. She did everything to make him comfortable. When she finished with x-rays she took us to the exam room. There was comfortable seating available and she did an oral exam, then started cleaning his teeth. At no time did my son experience any discomfort. She was very thorough and when she finished, the doctor came in to do a more thorough exam. Dr. Annabelle was also very kind and gentle. She talked to my son and made sure he was comfortable during his visit. She pointed out the work he needed done and gave him a prescription for a special tooth paste. She also talked to him about his dental care habits and eating/drinking habits that affect the teeth and gums. When we were finished, they gave us a goody bag to help with his dental care. I was then introduced to one of the ladies at the front desk, Margarita, she was also very polite, she emailed me my sons x-rays and scheduled his next appointment. Over all this was a great experience for my son. We live in Modesto, but I highly recommend this office and it's staff, its worth the trip! 10 out of 10!

I was pleased they had rooms that are private and they bring the X-ray machine to the room. The dental assistant who did most of the work was phenomenal— she was so patient and understanding. I was looking for a pediatric dentist for my toddler who currently has a fear of doctors’ offices. I wanted to find a practice that was focused on children and would make him feel comfortable. The lobby is almost like a playroom, which gave my son the perfect start to his appointment. The staff were kind and friendly and took their time letting my son warm up to them. At the end of his visit he was a very happy baby and I was a very happy mom.

Wonderful experience with my 3 kiddos yesterday! This is an amazing office. From the moment we walked in - my kiddos were welcomed on the “friends” list. Everyone we encountered was super friendly, efficient, and answered any questions we had about our kiddos! One of my kids needs a lot of work done, and they explained everything very thoroughly and answered all the questions we had. I highly recommend this office!

What a phenomenal 1st impression. So much so, I wish they accepted adult patients! After MONTHS of trying to find a dentist who can accommodate for my child’s need in the sense of offering compassion, patience, and information, in a way that she’d be able to understand and overcome her fears… I finally found the perfect DREAM TEAM! The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind; even writing my daughter’s name on their welcoming board for new patients (I almost cried). The dental assistant was so gentle verbally and physically, as was the dentist. My daughter is beyond excited for her next visit (primarily for the incredible playroom they offer while you wait) but also, because the team was just so kind with her. Even with all the work she unfortunately needs done, she’s happy to go back. I’m even happier to bring her back and eventually my youngest as well. 20/10 experience and a 20/10 recommendation for life!

We had an excellent experience here for my son’s first dentist appointment! The waiting area is an awesome space for young kids with enough toys to entertain a 19 month old for 10 minutes and the front desk workers were very nice. Working with toddlers teeth can’t be easy but the doctor made my son feel comfortable and made sure to be quick with his exam. We are looking forward to coming back here and would recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist for their toddler!

My kids loved this place. They even asked if they could go to the dentist everyday. They have a very nice and clean environment. It is extremely kid friendly because they have toys, games and other kid activities. The staff is amazing and they are very attentive to any concerns you may have about your child. They are also very welcoming and patient with you. The doctor is very patient with the little ones and he also makes sure to explain everything that is going on very nice and thorough. He explains things in a way that you can understand. They even have a board to welcome their new friends. We thought that was pretty neat. This place met all of our expectations. Very happy we found it. 10/10 would recommend this place to friends and family.

Edited my review due to lack their lack of available apointments. I was given an option for either the very next day that didn't work for us, or an appointment for over a month away. I was told this was because they had sedation days and that on some days, they switch locations. The explanation was confusing. Every time I tried to come up with another option for times or days, I was shut down by the receptionist. I ended up choosing to go to a new dentist that is able to accommodate our schedule. Wonderful place for kids! To start out, there was an awesome play room for kids in the waiting area, with toys, puzzles, and tablet type games on the wall. Once we were taken back, there were tvs and balloons everywhere, creating a fun environment. The staff totally knew how to work with my 4 yr old daughter, who was hesitant when they wanted to look in her mouth. In the end, her teeth were cleaned with no tears, she got a balloon and a princess toothbrush and I'm pretty sure she will not be scared to go back again!

This was a pleasant surprise. Most offices that accept MediCal or HMO are old. This office is great for kids and has all the new fresh equipment as any other office that accept PPO only. It was such a relief on me and my wallet. The staff and Dr Ian are great. I will definitely be coming back.

I'm so happy with our first visit. Coming from Western Dental, I was accustomed to long wait times (2+ hours) and care that was half hazardous. Just walking through the doors I could tell this office was different. They were so sweet to my daughter, she didn't want to leave when it was time to go. Dr. Ian was kind and honest about the work needing to be done, and we learned that her previous need for care (reported by Western Dental) was false. Which we could clearly see on the x-rays performed right in front of us. I'm grateful for this experience, and my daughter can't wait for her next appointment.. which as you know, is the most important thing!

It was just okay! They were friendly and well meaning, but we had a much better experience at our other pediatric dentist who we will return to. The dental staff made my son nervous and insisted on x-rays which made him really scared and brought him to tears and shaking (his other experiences he left smiling). They gave us a regular tooth brush and regular toothpaste, but nothing that was truly for a toddler. We won’t be coming back, but the office was nice.

Such great service and genuine care from the whole staff and Dr. Ian!Great communication, setting expectations, discussion of treatment prognosis and treatment plan all throughout the process from signing up until end of treatment. First time we tried seeing a dentist 2 years ago, it didn’t go well. He kept crying at the dental office, and didn’t open his mouth for them at all! Since then, he had been so resistant to seeing a dentist. I explained to Crystal the situation before I signed him up for initial consultation. And at that moment, I already had a good feeling that things would be better for him. And it really did!!! Spot for Smiles is truly the right dental place for kids!!! Jeanette, the dental assistant, was just amazing with my son! Very patient and empathetic, really listened and paid great attention to him to make him feel comfortable. Explained things to him before doing anything, letting him touch and see things, and always asking for his permission before initiating any treatment. And of course, Dr. Ian was just the same as expected!!! My son got his teeth checked and cleaned so thoroughly, had all X-rays done, fluoride treatment. He was very compliant with Dr. Ian, stayed comfortably while he thoroughly discussed the X-ray results, treatment plan in the near future and as he grows up. This kid dental office is THE Spot for Smiles not just for kids but for parents as well because I too, had a big smile after!!! It is a very clean, welcoming, kid-friendly place with toys, books and digital games for kids plus great, skilled, very caring staff. Miriam, Crystal, Jeanette and Dr. Ian, thank you all so, so much!!! We’re so looking forward to our next appointment!

This was my son’s first dental visit. He hates anyone looking in his mouth, but Crystal and Dr Ian were patient and kind. They made the examination as quick and painless as possible. They also explained everything they were going to do and really tried to make my son feel comfortable. I really appreciated that. The office is beautiful and very clean. They also have a fun little room with interactive stations with games for the kids. Overall, great experience! Highly recommend.

I'm more than pleased with this location. They provided excellent service overall, my 5 year old needed treatment and I was afraid she wouldn't want to even go through the door. But the staff is amazing and made sure she was comfortable from beginning to the end. And before doing anything, they explained to her what was going to happen and reasure she was doing great. I definitely recommend this place you won't regret it!!

I took my 2.5 year old for a complimentary visit today. I had a great experience, the facility was clean and kids friendly. The hygienist and doctor was very warm and welcoming. Recommend this dental clinic for all kids.

We had such a great experience. My 8 year old daughter cracked one of her adult teeth. It was a nightmare calling around, trying to find a dentist that was willing to fix it. The general dentists said she was too young. The pediatric dentists told me it’s an adult tooth, so they wouldn’t touch it. I was DESPERATE! The Spot immediately took us in and was able to complete the procedure without any issues. Dr. Marion and his staff were amazing with my little one. Very patient and kind. The office is very nice and clean. They also accept Delta Dental insurance. We’ll definitely be switching over to them.

Such a wonderful experience for my children. Having two kids that are resistant to see the dentist, this location went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. The front office staff was great and made the new patient process easy while my kids played video games in the waiting room. The assistants and doctor were both warm and patient with my kids. Dr. Marion and staff are Fantastic! Wonderful bedside manner with our 2 and 1 year old that are both a little shy. Nice modern decor and very clean throughout. The waiting room has some neat toys my kids enjoyed. Realistic expectations for the kids and parents with dental hygiene for toddlers. Went to another pediatric dentist and felt rushed and my kids did not warm up well. Did not feel rushed at all with Dr. Marion and my kids seemed to like him. Best pediatric dental practice in Folsom!

We stumbled upon The Spot for Smiles while researching pediatric dentists in our area for our 3- and 1-year-old boys, specifically one that specializes in special needs children and sensory sensitivities. Immediately upon walking in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who promptly checked us in. They have a beautiful and engaging waiting area for children, including books, activity boards/games, a table-sized tablet, and 3 regular sized wall-mounted tablets. My two kids were kept thoroughly entertained between everything available to them, although we didn't have to wait long before we were brought back to the exam room. Both the dental hygienist and Dr. Ian were extremely patient, understanding, and kind with my children, explaining what they were about to do and giving a small demonstration so that they knew what to expect. They were phenomenal with my 3-year-old especially and didn't push him to do anything that made him feel uncomfortable. They made him feel so at ease that they were able to get in his mouth to complete a thorough examination, brushing, and fluoride. My 1-year-old wouldn't allow them to do much other than check that he has teeth and that they were clean and regularly brushed, but even that was quick and relatively fuss-free (at least as much fuss-free as you can get trying to open and look into a 1-year-old's mouth for any length of time). Overall, I was very impressed with the staff, the environment, and the respectful way they treat their patients. We are very happy with our new dental team and look forward to coming back for their next exam.

Amazing dental office for kids! The ladies at the front greeted us with smiles. Clean office and fun video games for the kids to play. I’m thankful for Dr. Ian and Jeanette for making my kids first dental visit awesome. No tears, all giggles. It’s true….this place is the spot for smiles!
